This is simple and straight forward, I give you that point! But you are more on a gambling/aggressive/young (I am young too!) way of thinking. To achieve all these nice return you must risk big time (checking your accounts, your returns are nice, but the DD scares me).Now you must think about what you want from FX. I personally would like to end up having a system generating a stable income for the LT and never have to rely on the equity or fixed income market, sticking to a 6 to 12% annually and paying management fees (boring, slow and expensive). I'd like an EA that can generate an extra ...

I must disagree with you Adrian. People get greedy and when they see the returns made by martingales, they always want more and end up losing it all one day.If you keep an objective to yourself, say 200% in two months. Now imagine you achieve your objective, what will you do with this money? Start on an other martingale. And this will go on until you lose it all. Hence, I'd be curious to see an update of your account in order to find out if this big DD that was going on when you stopped updating ended in a bad story (61% of equity available is tough). When I started I was curious about a py...

All systems have its advantages and its drawbacks. I like manual SP has they tend to have a more stable equity curve, yet the yield are usually more realistic (unless the risk/leverage of each position is too high) while EAs can sometime be amazing but bear crazy risk! I bet today's spike killed many EAs again.I agree with your idea of 2K trades for 2 years. I like a system that trades very often and on average wins more than the losses, as it gives you the odds of winning on the LT.

Verolondon you want to pay attention to the Drawdown (DD) of each robot (if you are not looking for insane performance = insane returns). Usually a DD shouldn't go past 15-20% maximum.I would say that you can start by checking the most popular (http://www.myfxbook.com/most-popular-forex-systems) eliminating them one by one based on return vs drawdown and then check on internet for most people's point of view.EAs change really fast and its rare to find one that's been profitable and still is.

Seriously, don't do that, this is really useless and the graphs are very poor. Just try on real demo accounts. If you want to backtest your manual system, simply scroll back and see what would have happened.

Don't be extreme guys, all brokers are not market maker, hence they don't care if you win or lose. All they want is volume and their LP to be happy.I also heard about a stories like that sdek4x, that brokers "check" accounts doing more than 100% monthly, which I can understand has its insane (from a rational investor point of view). I guess they check if everything is legit and especially if it doesn't smell like arbitrage.Beside that, I don't think they could keep any money or do any dirty trick, especially to half a million account like this one.I bet the trader use...

I cloud not agree more about the fact that many traders (both winners and losers) think they are smarter than others. The psychology part would be the first bottom line to me. Accepting the drawdown on a serious balance (one that you rely on to live) will be the toughest part, trust me. I am still young and have a hard time watching DD which is why I chose scalping EAs for now. Which is fine, all you need is to find a style of trading that fit your emotions and practice in order to have good track records to start live.Good luck to you in your new project!

I'd say, if anyone wants to find the right balance needed to stop working and trade for a living, think like this:1) How much do you think you need every month to pay your rent, utility bills and other costs of living? I live in France and I'd estimate this amount at around 2000€ to be "ok-good".2) To make these 2000€ you need to get in touch with someone already in the business or any tax expert to tell you how much you need to make gross to "keep" this amount net (let's say you need to make 3000€ gross).3) Now that you have a monthly target of a...

I would say the same as Adrian8891 regarding the VPS, as it is an obvious need if you trade EAs. Then on the other hand I spend most of my time at work and I don't plan on stopping. FX is like an extra earning, or I should say a better alternative that cheap mutual funds or any investment proposed by your bank that yield 5-10%.....yearly!I must say that a certain part of my income comes from cashback rebates. This has been a very stable income source that one should not ignore. It pays my VPS and gives me an extra 1-1.5% perf on my balance monthly.

Twice you've been insinuiating that I am not experienced / don't have a lot of FOREX knowledge.I'll let you accuse other myfxbook members if they fall into your trap.I never heard of anyone "selling" any management service or actual EA without any proofs. Yet I saw hundreds of people talking about "we" instead of "I". Supposedly teams of programmers that are smarter than others to beat the market. It's always like that: we worked for years and found a strategy to be smarter than others to win in a systematic way.If you want to avoid the 99% quality...

Are you even serious right now?The quality of a backtest is, indeed, inferior on a M1 as it is harder to reflect real market conditions. Howoever your statement is absolutely wrong. You used the available (bad quality) ticks at your broker instead of downloading tick data from duckascopy or other brokers. I've seen and done many backtest with M1 EAs with 99%.Do your work before trying to sell anything with ridiculous backtest.Everyone knows the relationship of past and present prices and their potential reflexion to the future. Backtest won't tell the truth but they will give you a gre...

I kinda agree with both of you (Danneskjold and FXdiversified). An obvious and ridiculous scam broker won't stay long enough but a more malicious one will. Think about the dinosaur brokers, here since a while that keep aggregating huge amount of trades. Most of them got fined by the FSA / SEC..etc at least once every year for constant negative slippage for customers and other manipulation. That's the thing about FX, foggy universe without regulation = easy to manipulate. So I'd say follow the crowd and you won't have much to worry about.
