I opened a gold short when the price returned to the daily trendline. I was planning on holding it for quite a whiles.Then the philly fed index came out at 22.5 somehow?!?Very strange number, unexpectedly optimistic so I closed. Turned out it was at a very good time.Although I guess gold is still resting below the trendline. I should reopen the short at some point maybe.

Today I learned that limit orders + news event = bad combination.Aside from spread widening, it's also possible that the order doesn't get filled at the price you set it at, or doesn't get filled period.

Your system is worrying me a little, because your losing trades are being held for long periods...Maybe it would be healthier in the long run to not worry so much about maintaining such a pretty upwards slope.
