Any good volume indicator ?

Volume in forex uses price ticks. As price changes up and down, volume adds up. High volume has lots of such simple tick shifts, while low volume has very little. What does that tell us? In theory, increasing volume indicates growing interest, buttressing an existing trend or signaling a new one. That said, I haven't been able to create or improve a system with volume indicators.

What's so great about this EA? It is a standard martingale. Every time it hits its 50 pip stop it just doubles the next trade (multiple: 2) with a take profit of 50, so as to always increase the account. Any newbie can create such an EA and be lucky enough for a while, till it eventually blows up.

2200% gain on only 350 pips shows that the system relies mostly on huge leverage. In fact, most of the gains were made when at the beginning, when the account was at $500, and the leverage was 5 standard lots. 5 standard (100,000) lots on a $500 account represents 1000:1 leverage per trade. After the the big gains were luckily made with high leverage, the system scaled back the leverage considerably. Take away the leverage and you only have a system that made only 350 pips since June 2013. Let's see how many pips the system can produce by years end? That's the true test.

Cyberryder's draw down is 70%, but even if you half it because of his withdrawal, it is still a substantial 35% floating draw down. Your own floating draw down is around 35%. That is a lot and it can keep on getting bigger if the losing trades you have open (hidden to us) keep marching in the direction opposite their entry price.

Scott, it is absurd to imply that one should never have a DD on your account. All traders and systems have DD -- and it does not have to occur at the month end, it can occur intermonth. Moreover, 7 years trading without one negative month is such an extreme statement that needs backup, like a direction stats connection to your MT4 account. Otherwise it is BS.

so a 2 pip spread is like: 15625 / 15627. I think that is pretty good and hard to beat. But it would be nice to get a round up for comparison. What is your broker? My varengold fx/cfd spread for the equivalent, which they call CBOT.YM, offers a 4 pip spread, like: 15625 / 15629.

Backtesting is the only quantifiable way to ensure a strategy conceived is viable and statistically worthy to trade on a forward test. A robust backtest over several years plus a robust demo forward test over several months/years allows us to feel we can trade the system with real money.

I agree with traveltrader and scalpastic on this one. Equity curve was broken a long time ago, which makes FGB very dangerous to trade with -- no matter what optimized settings are used. Better to revisit the bot performance every second week and see how it flails around at the bottom of its draw down tomb. I don't see it reviving anytime soon.

GBPUSD seems to have fallen firmly into bearish territory this month, with BOE saying they are going to keep interest rates low (bad for GBP) and the suspicion that Fed might raise interest rates with positive job growth today (good for USD). Technically GBPUSD broke down through 1.5080 upward trendline support, as well as key support of 1.5000. I find it funny that there most of the real MDP myfxbook accounts have been deleted by their creators, meaning that most of the time this EA does not work on real accounts. But there is some hope out there. I have hunted around and found that there is has performed decently enough on an ExcelMarkets real account: http://www.forexrazor.com/en-us/account.aspx?sid=4267The account started with $500 on Sept 20, 2011 and gained 670% ($3856) by Oct 1, 2012. I'm glad the stats are connected again, and we can finally see that it has gone through a 68% DD. My god, that is an wicked DD to suffer. I'm so glad I left this robot when the $equity dropped below $7000. Now at $3400, it has a long way to climb back up before it can prove to me that it can climb out of hell.

Nice simile. I would add to extend this out and say that the # of times the levels of the grid are reached represents the # of cigarettes that are being smoked. The smartest grids don't need to smoke as much; the dumbest ones keep chain smoking all the time. Martingales are another matter....after each level is reached, the martingale doubles the cigarettes smoked at one time, till 8 levels later and he is puffing away at 12, choking in smoke as his account is in flames.
