Third lower swing high on 15m and failed buy signals on both pairs. Perhaps not all is lost 🙄

I personally like the freedom of choice on Broker/VPS/Instrument that the EA gives. It does have many advantages.10 minutes to GDP.....

OK, I can see some selling taking place on short term charts, lets hope for some follow through :-)No short signals anywhere though :-(If anyone is interested....measures I have taken:I have deactivated anything which is at or above 0.9 on all accounts.I have reduced where necessary all RL to 1 (bear in mind it does not affect current trade-sets).I have reduced/managed/switched off any other EA I have running on the accounts.I DO NOT have the 40% DD feature activated.Oddly enough, in analysing the accounts, I have found that, out of 5, only 2 have a problem. (defined as above 25% DD).One is cu...

Also detecting a "mini account" does not mean that it will open a position @0.10. drsong123 is correct. It will depend on the account size. In my case, the EA detects a "mini account" just like you but because of the size of my accounts (faaaaar lower than 100k), Tom's opens correctly @0.10. (I am spreadbetting so for all intents and purposes I am trading minilots)With 100k size and 100k equity available, it does not surprise me that it opens a full lot size.Ivan might have a better answer

Correct. That is the idea. However, it did not work with me on this occasion and there is another consideration.Assuming that margin is not an issue, It is probably better (cheaper!) to let the position go against you and be stopped out on a couple of £0.10 @ 600pips (£60.00 each) rather than been whipsawed on a much larger hedge (like I did)Its just too volatile at the moment.Anyone thinking about weekend / Sunday night open?

Not necessarily drsong123.Hedging in this way (with some brokers only) frees up margin as the broker (market makers) sets the short risk against the long risk. Therefore you can go on forever. Suppose EURUSD climbs 1000 pips before reversing. without the hedge one could not survive (well, I could not) but with the hedge in place you "freeze exposure" When you spot the reversal ( and if you are right about it) you close your hedge and bank the profits and then resume your net short exposure. Not all brokers do this, some allocate margin for both sides of the hedge which would not work....

I would be interested to see how is everyone managing the DD. This is the first time I go over 25% and only 2 out of 5 accounts are over that limit. One is around 40% though! I have now placed stop buy orders above today's high on both EURUSD and GBPUSD on all accounts above 25% DD. Roughly sized up to my current short exposure. Should this thing keep going I will be long roughly the same amount that Tom's is short. thereby kind of "freezing" my exposure without closing positions. The skill then will be to identify the reversal and close the hedge.

I seem to recall that they recommended trading minilots only with 100k plus accounts? In your experiment you are trading a mixture of microlots and minilots on a $5k account. With RL3?Far too risky no? Did I understand right? Sorry, I missed the purpose of the exercise?

For me, this really describes what Tom's is and how to use it. In one sentence! Don't need anything else, really, but this sentence.

Fughe,I don't think you can quantify risk like that here as there is no stop loss to speak of. Bottom line for me is that I cannot trade any smaller than a microlot and the nearest stop is 600 pips away.... Nothing we can do about either. If one increase lot sizes any less during the sequence it wil not recover so there are not many options to manage risk using lot size, % increases and stops. One can use other tools to manage risk though, like max DD tollerance and close outs, deactivate the EA when it gets too much, diversify, keep lower risk levels and make sure there is enough capital in...

Fughe, sure, just chatting, no worries.I am interested though, if @ RL1, the first trade entered is 0.01, what would the first trade on a RL0.2 be? Bearing in mind that (if I am not mistaken) the minimum available to traders is a microlot. If @ RL1 we have:0.010.010.010.03etc etcWhat would RL0.2 look like?

To illustrate the point on diversification, below is TOM's EA trading US Oil contracts on RL2/3 during the last few weeks on demo account testing (£10,000)Any major MT4 will offer UsOil.Trading Oil has more to do with Iran's nuclear woes than Greek defaults. As you can see, constantly profitable.Oil is very volatile on a 1m chart and it does seem to have the rythmic fluctuations that Tom's EA likes. Trading diverse products will help DD as, when the EUR tanks or rally, perhaps Oil does not so much.(Ignore the few WS30 trades showing here.)I am also testing several non-recomme...

That is correct. It has no effect on the open trades. However, It will change the risk from that moment on new trade-sets.It will not help you with existing DD but nor would having a 0.5 RL option. When you enter a trade, you do not know that you are going to have a large DD and therefore you would not choose the RL 0.2 option. (at least, i would not). You are wanting to make money and you are going to keep running on RL1/2/3. Its only afterwards, when you are in and the pair has taken off in the wrong direction that you need to manage the trade. And I feel the tools available are sufficient.Be...

Although I understand where you are coming from, I am actually of a different opinion here. My view is that to start using 1.85 risk levels would be a bit of a waste of time (and computing power in calculating all those lot sizes!)And people would not use them anyway. As far as going below RL1, I also think there would probably be no much point in trading @ RL 0.2 and noone would use it ayway. IMO the majority of users tend to overdo it on the risk rather than looking for safer options. (which is fine)The options available in v1.89 are good. If DD is getting to you, just deactivate the EA and ...
