Pocketguy, as you know I run your same set up and my understanding is as follows:For all intent and purpose, a SB account is the same as a traditional micro account, ie. you are trading 0.10 (£, $ or whatever the currency is) per pip. I am not sure what you mean by equating currency, but regardless what currency you use, the EA will do 0.10,0.10,0.10,0.30,0.60 etc. Therefore, of course, if we are trading UK£ we are taking on a bit more risk (and potential reward) if you compare it to trading USD. £0.10 is in effect $0.16. (and growing...!!) This, I believe, is the only consid...

Indeed..If one wanted to do the trailing stop manually, the problem would be that even if you manually assign one to existing trades, the EA resets them. There is a trade manager called MyFx which interfaces with MT4. I use it often in manual trading and many brokers offer it free. All pending orders (including trailing stops etc.) do not modify the existing orders in MT4 but they sit within MyFx and they are entered as market orders. That would work as nor the EA nor the broker know of the existence of the stop or any other order for that matter.Indeed the incorporation of a trailing stop woul...

@ Julian, interesting approach and I would guess quiet effective.I tried to do that with the EA on but it kept cancelling my stop losses (it kinds or resets them to 0). My question (which you probably answered partially) is this:If I want to stop the basket from progressing any larger but I want the EA to still take those "with trend" small trades PLUS move the stop up (or down) as the position goes against me further hence managing the open trades WITHOUT entering new counter trend ones, what do I do? I seem to recall a conversation which left me with the impression that was the de...

Julian, Thank you and nice blog you have.Can you tell me how deep the basket goes before stopping?0.01, 0.01, 0.01, 0.03, 0.06, 0.09, 0.12, 0.15, 0.21This is a 9 trades depth.@chrissav - I would probably take the £100 loss.

For the braver people out there... I saw breakeven on EURUSD and I took it! Closed all my positions manually on both troubled accounts. Now I can deal better with GBPUSD DD.Ivan (or anyone) GBPUSD has now opened a 0.21 short position while deactivated! I have deactivated it after 0.12 and since then it has opened a 0.15 and just now a 0.21??!Please can you clarify what needs to be done to have the existing positions managed but no more positions entered? Thanks

Ditto. Although I got burned with my hedges a couple of days ago, I still feel that it is the "saner" way to go, (short of closing positions) expecially if by hedging your broker frees up margin. I might get burned again but I feel a bit better knowing that it can go higher if he wants to.

We have broken through previous resistance in GBPUSD albeit intraday. If this thing does not seriously come down now, there is no much in terms of resistance until 1.6000 - 1.6200-ish.That would be a ride!

Togr, good on you! :-) I do not think it is the version. I run 5 live accounts and 1 demo with TOM's EA.The 5 Live accounts have all the same pairs and same settings. However, only 2 of them have a DD problem (28% and 36%). The other 3 are running with a DD between 10 & 20% (at time of writing!) which is within my risk tolerance. The Demo is running 8 pairs @ RL 24! (that is right, RL24 = 8x3) and is only standing now @ 18% DD. So, my experience is not consistent across the board. The only difference between these accounts is that the 2 with the DD problem have experienced the Global Pr...

Hi , below are some not so good news if we believe FXCM sentiment indicators.http://www.myfxbook.com/files/tradingshed/Capture_zr.JPGUltimately, Fughe is right in suggesting a plan should be made to manage a further upthrust and Julian is right in that the charts will tell the tale. What to do to manage; this is the real question...Ultimately, from my point of view, not many options are available: Close positions, hedge against positions or increase equity and wait for the pullback (or a combination of the three).GBPUSD expecially does seem unstoppable in its rally and the recent pullback was p...

Ivan or Dustin, I also have a surprising situation similar to the above. I deactivated the EA at the weekend, under the impression that it will not open any new trades but merely manage existing ones. However, today I find a short 0.15 trade openas well as two new longs? (both 0.01)Why is the EA still trading if it is deactivated? Thanks

Ivan,Thank you for replying but I, for one, did not really get it 😞 sorry.Do you have an other way of putting it? More importantly, how can we recognise any errors and resolved them? Thanks

Why dont you put 10k in the trading account and keep the other 90k in the bank available for margin needs?Tom's will trade as if you have only 10k and it will be microlots all the way!Without performing any calculations, I am sure it will trade at very low risk settings in relation to your 100k.The 90k will be earning you interest (well...) and you will drip feed them in the trading account as required by margin levels and market behaviour (ie times like this). As profits build you remove them and try to keep a balance of around 10k.It sounds like you want the majority of the cash to do ju...
