Taiwan Manufacturing PMI Slows To 50.2 In October - S&P Global

(RTTNews) - The manufacturing sector in Taiwan continued to expand in October, albeit at a slower rate, the latest survey from S&P Global revealed on Friday with a manufacturing PMI score of 50.2.

That's down from 50.8 in September, although it remains above the boom-or-bust line of 50 that separates expansion from contraction.

October's weaker PMI reading was closely linked to slower rises in both production and new orders. For output, the increase was the weakest in the current seven-month upturn, whilst growth in new work was the softest since April.

Better market demand was nonetheless reported by several panelists, both at home and abroad. Indeed, new export orders rose slightly in October amid evidence of higher sales to Europe, North America and Southeast Asia.
