20-40% performance fee (with high watermark) for Forex traders

That's a personal preference. I consider an average of 2 pips per trade to be the very minimum, just for the simple fact that I'm mostly using ECN accounts, which charge you commissions to execute the trades; so if you make an average of 1 pip per trade, and pay the broker 0.8 pips, how profitable do you think you can you get when you add up the other costs of doing business? The lower the Pips Expectancy it is, the higher the chances that you'll get a high deviation from the "expected" performance. Even 2 pips is low, and I'll use an EA that is making waves right now,...

A quick note regarding this suggestion I made: http://www.myfxbook.com/community/suggestion-box/show-expectancy-pips-along-one/161504,1The support team pointed out to me that the formula I provided for calculating the pips expectancy can be simplified a lot, as shown below:Expectancy in Pips= Average Pips Win * Winning Trades % + Average Pips Loss * Losing Trades %= (TotalPipsWon / WonTradeCount) * (WonTradeCount / TotalTradeCount) + (TotalPipsLost / LostTradeCount) * (LostTradeCount / TotalTradeCount)= TotalPipsWon / TotalTradeCount + TotalPipsLost / TotalTradeCount= (T...

I see Martingale at work: on 8/12 you had a basket of 7 trades opened in an interval of little over 1 hour. If you are using a global stop loss, and the system still performs, ok, but even then I would be extra cautious with it. What if USDCHF would not have retraced?

I expressed the percentage for winning/losing trades as 0.xx already, so there is no need to divide that by 100.Specifically, I said the winning trades % is 222 / 309, which is about 0.72. You can also express that as 72 / 100.So if you are going to use the % as usual (for example, use a value of 72 for 72%), then dividing by 100 is necessary. But if you are using the mathematical value, as Will (0.72) or I (222/309) did, then dividing by 100 should be skipped.

Thanks Will for your info, and especially for doing the number crunching I asked for. You are the 8th person to reply to my inquiry for account managers, and so far no one cared to even attempt to calculate the Pips Expectancy or the Ratio.I'll calculate the numbers again for your system (your first calculation is off a bit due to rounding), and then use your system as example for what I'm looking for. I'll also explain how I use those numbers. As of Aug 31, 22:00, you have 309 trades with 222 winners.Myfxbook already calculated average winning trade as 17.71 and average losing trad...

Thanks Dr. Zain Agha for your info!As a matter of fact, I am not looking for 100% winning rate. I don't believe that can be achieved while having a reasonable draw-down (I won't give any number here, since that's not the topic for my thread). So when I see a system with 0 losses, I either ignore it, or, in some cases, I add it to my watch list. I only consider a system for my portfolio when it has enough losses to make me believe the system has had its fair share of losing trades. Also, the system you have originally listed (http://www.myfxbook.com/members/zainagha/dr-zain-agha-mana...

I did not try to arbitrage this, but I have good experience with Interactive Brokers, and they support both futures and forex in the same platform, and Ninja Trader can be used as front-end.They are a reputable broker, and maybe it's not even a problem to trade that arbitrage with them, which would be awesome, since you would only have one account to manage.

CNS says the ping would be 88 ms from CA and 2 ms from NY. I have a different provider in NY, but I bet it's very low as well.http://helpdesk.commercialnetworkservices.net/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=174

I did some tests using real accounts. The ping times seem to hold stable no matter the time of the day and week, but for order execution times I only did the tests Sunday right after the market opened, when I thought I'll get the best times:Average ping times from San Diego VPS (CNS):Alpari UK = 146Alpari US = 73ATC Brokers = doesn't reply to pingFXDD = 82InstaForex = 33MB Trading = 10Pepperstone = 169Average ping times from New York VPS (Razor):Alpari UK = 77Alpari US = 2ATC Brokers = doesn't reply to pingFXDD = 5InstaForex = 46MB Trading = 83Pepperstone = 238Average order executi...

Testing on my real MB Trading account, from a VPS in California which gets a ping of 10-12 ms to their servers, I found that order execution time is ~ 300 ms on Sunday, when the market opens, but goes as high as 4500 ms when the market is moving fast. I'll call them on this, to see if they have anything to say about it.

I stared reading this thread today, and this looks like a very interesting project. I agree you need as much speed as you can get, so in case you did not measure your broker execution time yet, I recommend using this tool: http://forex-expats.com/recommended/Up until a while ago the latency to the broker was my only criteria for speed. I thought that if I'm 2 ms from my broker I'm the boss ;) Then I learned about the order execution time, and how that can override the benefits of a low latency, if the broker has either slow servers, or is otherwise taking a lot of time to execute your ...

I mean I want someone to assist the automated trading strategy, if that's what is used for trading. I am of the opinion that even if you have a good 100% automated trading strategy, you should monitor the market conditions, and at the minimum pause the strategy when the market conditions are not favorable for it.If you want to go the extra mile, you should tune your strategy regularly, to reflecting the changing market. I know there is the opposing view, which says a good strategy should perform no matter what the market does, but that's just not the way I see it.And also I believe you...

😄 If you are mocking up my Pips Expectancy formula, the Average Pips Loss is a negative number, so you should have written (10000 * 50% - 10000 * 50%) / 100, and that's equal to 0 (which is actually much better than the performance of many of the systems you can find in the referenced section 😄)

James_Bond, Chunky Monkey and Steve Walker,I'm actually looking for successful traders, whether they use automated systems or just manual trading. I checked the systems sections and found a lot of stuff there, and now I'm looking for humans who want to make decisions about what systems to trade (including manual strategies), when to stop trading or reduce the lot size, be able to tweak them when the market changes, and so on.I don't see how your comments add value to this thread, so please post something of value for everyone reading here, if you care to share.Have a great day ever...
