Random or not?

General

It's been a long story... There always have two sides on the market during transaction. Assuming that they both have the same TA tools there should not be any transactions, because why should anyone sell if the TA "says" that the price will go up? But when you start adding different time frames and position sizes this gets more and more complicated. The number of possible factors that influences the price (especially in short term) grows exponentially... My current stance is -- price movements are random short term, if you have a system you need to take care of proper position si...

I do not think so, the guess the key reasons were breach of multiyear lows USD/JPY, heavy orders inbalance and extremely thin trading. The other pairs simply were ripples on this pair.I was glued to the screen yesterday too, this was a real show. The last time I saw something similar was May 2010...

What is the difference between the EA's settings in the first and the second test?

I am not at home not, so I cannot tell for sure, but definitely I have noticed that some trades are without the comment. I also have noticed some more erratic behavior. One of the most "strange" was when I manually assigned the amounts for each of the martingale level and PFR used to open the first of the trades (PROFX_0) at 2.5x the original value that I assigned. Some other strange things: sometimes PFR opened two trades at the same time one with a comment and the other without. This is acceptable with the low martingale level, but if this happened at PROFX_6 then the account could...

Indeed, it seems that starting it with anything then 10000$ seems quite risky. Unless the System takes into account the equity size and opens new positions at much lower rates.

I am concerned about trading all four pairs as they are all USD linked. So there is a remote posibility if all 4 pairs were very volatile that you may get 4x bigger drawdown. I use the conservative settings and although I had a couple setbacks on USDCHF recently, but I do not complain. Here is the PFR only accounthttp://www.myfxbook.com/members/pipdetector/pfr-fxpro/37632The other used mix of EAs (Megadroid and Probability 7.0 for a while, now it is PFR only -- MD was OK with PFR, but Probability could not coexist with PFR at all).http://www.myfxbook.com/members/pipdetector/pfrprobability-atc/3...

Mostly automated using ProForexRobot, Megadroid, GT-Shadow and Pipstrider. I am testing Probability 7.0 and maybe I will include it in my toolbox next month. Reliability 2.0 seems a bit expensive, backtests seem a bit dubious, because you cannot test them on your own even if you bought the EA. I do not feel up to parting with $1000 to test Reliability to find out that it does not work as "advertised"...

Unfortunately, you cannot back test the EA (this is the biggest drawdown that keeps me from considering it as a buy). I wonder when the EA will start closing the present open positions.

Setting stop loss seems not necessary if you are consistent in your strategy and you play with very small lots relative to your account equity eg. if you have $5000 account and you play with 0.01 lots.

Aggressive strategy assumes increased risk for potentially better returns. My strategy is to start most aggressive at the beginning when the stake is the lowest and then gradually ease it off. Eg. I set the BalanceFactor to 1000 in the beginning, but I changed it to 1500 recently and I will continue it until it gets to 2500. I will leave it at that then.

Thanks for sharing. I will think about setting ExpandPips2 to 100 -- it makes sense especially when Aggressive settings are used. Quite a loss on the swaps... I thought that this must have been something irregular, because if you exceeded level 7 the loss would have been massive and this was just a hiccup.

Did you hit 7 or 8 martingale level? I am also interested in which settings you use. Here are my PipStrider results. I guess I missed the June loss by sheer luck.http://www.myfxbook.com/members/pipdetector/ps-fxdd/37870

BTW, maybe 4xGreed was a sophisticated ploy to drive potential customers to Dominic -- additional publicity + he claims that he offers the genuine "expert". Hell of a cheek. The most vexing is that with the other EA of which a lot are scams too, you can at least get the money thru ClickBank or Plimus...

ruht03,There was something fishy in it the first I checked the "superrobot". The funny thing is that 4xGreed seems to be a "pirated" version of the "EA". The fact that SuperFxRobot was a scam was the reason why Dominic did not take any legal action against the other guys. I am glad that I have lost only 65 USD buying a 30 days trial on 4xGreed...

Hi there,I am also running PFR. I am bit surprised by the position sizes that are shown with myfxbook here. It seems that they actually are 0.01 lot not 0.1 as shown in the statements. Probably myfxbook has problems with nanolots...Anyway, your results seem pretty consistent with what I get and I think they are pretty encouraging. When I go live, I will trade EUR/USD and USD/JPY first and then I will add the other two pairs.

For the man in the FX street the problem is how to separate the wheat from the chaff... (genuine EAs, genuine forex signals, genuine results...).But foremostly, the problem lies in ourselves, even if we are given really good trading method -- it need to be "tailor made" for us. In FX market only one thing is sure that nothing is sure: we keep forgetting it on the quest for the Holy Grail. It is convenient to have some "scape goat" to blame whenever something goes wrong...
