IC Markets

I tried IC Markets because of the great spreads. The spreads you see are the spreads you get. So no complaints there. I opened a small account, I use my own EA, therefore the trades were exactly the same as my other accounts I have on Pepperstone. IC offered me a commission rate of $5 rather than $7 I'm getting at Pepperstone. I closed my account after only 1 day. The slippage was horrendous and the latency was the worst I've ever had. It was a fairly active day of trading that day. On Pepperstone the day was +1.2% but on IC it was down about -1%. The same exact trades, but because of ...

Ok this is the ultimate strategy. THE BASKET OF ALL BASKETS. The strategy is the following. A basket of several strategies (See previous posts in thread for more detail)A basket of indicatorsA basket of pairsAnd finally a basket of different time frames. Now we need to think of a name for the strategy. Hmmm, how about "THE BASKET STRATEGY"Yep, perfect, what could go wrong??

Hey I've got an even better idea. How about a basket of pairs. If you trade only one pair then you will eventually lose your entire bankrollWhy don't we come up with a strategy that trades a basket of pairs. That way if you lose on one pair the other pair will win and protect your capital. This will also minimize the drawdown. Now all we have to do is think of which pairs to add to the basket. yep this is a no brainer, this is gonna work. I'm a genius.

Hey I've got a great idea for a trading strategy. I'm thinking of using a basket of indicators, that way if one indicator doesn't work, then the other indicator will subsidize the other. Now I want to keep it very simple. Let's say the acute angle of the orbicularis oris coincides with sedimentary layers of the proportional lines then we can buy or otherwise sell. Easy eh?Now back to the basket of indicators, how about we put on a chart, a stochastic, an rsi, 6 EMAs. 4 SMA, Average true range, fractal, support and resistance lines, trend lines and Fibonacci. Now if we can figur...

Gamble? not me, I don't gamble, that's for mugs like you, I trade. Blown accounts? Never happened. Just because you've blown your accounts doesn't mean it's happened to me. You're the one looking for some holy grail that doesn't exist. The bottom line is that "basket trading" with so called multiple strategies, will just blow your account quicker, but better for me, I make money off blokes like you. Keep donating to the cause, I'm there to gobble it up.

Well I'll have to believe you, that institutional traders use this concept. I wouldn't have a clue what they do, so I can understand why you are pursuing this line. I did read all the comments and do understand what you and others are saying. I suppose my point has more to do with semantics. My point is that a basket of multiple strategies "collectively", in effect is "one single strategy" if it is being traded on the same bankroll, but heck what do I know? If that is what the institutional traders are doing then there is obviously something in it. Good luck with ...

This is an interesting concept, but won't the end result still be a single trading strategy? That is, it's a "basket trading strategy."The strategy is a collection of different strategies which in the end is a single strategy. If all the collection of strategies are trading one Bankroll then in the end it's just a single strategy, purely an opinion and maybe I'm missing something. (No wise cracks please 😁 )If anyone has adopted this strategy recently, I would be interested in knowing how it's going.

I think the DD tab is plotted at the end of each day, and the Max DD in the column is dynamic, therefore during the course of the day, the account might have hit a higher profit before losing and then close of the day. The DD in the column is worked out from the current highest gain to the current low dynamically, but if the DD in the tab is only plotted at the close of the day, it will be lower than the dynamic high as it does not take into account the highest point for that day, but maybe I'm wrong, dunno.

It's untrue if you have some form of fundamental analysis, but if you are purely technical then it's 100% true. Technical analysis is purely probabilities. No matter what sort of technical analysis you use. Whether it is patterns, advanced patterns, support/resistance, trendlines, candle formations, RSI, MAs, Stochastics, whatever, you are looking at the history and saying, when this has occurred in the past this has happened and the probability of it happening again is higher than it not happening again. Sure after that other factors such as money management, risk, lot sizing etc may...

DD is relative to how much return you want to achieve, how well the system can recover from the DD and probably the most important issue is how much DD tolerance you can handle psychologically.A good hedge fund returning 15% to 30% return a year would obviously have to have very low DD. If such a fund had a DD in a particular month of say 10% - 20% and you look at the history and see the best month they've ever had is a return of 5% then you confidence of the fund recovering quickly would be quite low. On the other hand, if a system can generate 100% - 200% return a year, you must expect t...

I use Pepperstone, ECN Razor Account. Gread spreads, great support and lately slippage has been very good. I continue to try other brokers, and the longest I lasted with these brokers is a week. Compared to Pepperstone there is daylight between them. Below is a growing list of brokers I've tried and rejected. Usually the slippage is a lot worse and latency is pretty bad, and some have better spreads, some worse but overall nowhere near as good as pepperstone. I remain with pepperstone. Haven't tried Exness so can't comment. Go MarketsIC MarketsSynergy FXFX OpenFXCMAxitrader
