Extreme market volatility has exposed some weaknesses in the trading logic of manna. I'm going to continue leaving manna posted, and it will make a useful comparative benchmark for manna2 (which is on the way). And the long term results are still very much on par with testing tolerances.

When looking at the performance chart here, it shows the margin is 200:1, however that is not correct. I keep setting to 50:1 but it reverts back to 200:1 per the brokers max. The account size also reflects a $5000 account, and that is incorrect also, as the strategy is designed to use .1 lots which is suitable for a 2k account and it is what the design was based on. The percentage gain or loss on the performance chart reflects a gain or loss based on a $5000 account rather than a $2000 account. So the actually gain or loss would be more than double what this performance chart would suggest. ...

Past 2 days (12/18 and 12/19) I was slightly frustrated with the performance of the Manna system as is. On 2 occasions it had over 2% profit twice, but didn't capture it as I would have wanted it to. Keep in mind, the system uses ONE .1 lot only, and does compound earnings or used much margin at all. It's based on a 2k account risk model margin of 50:1.One of those occasions it missed a fill by just a couple of pips. Version 2 will take on these type of challenges is in process of development presently. In addition a brand new strategy which uses the 60 min chart and different log...

Since I am in USA, Pepperstone wouldn't work for me. They told me a week ago that they do not take US clients.I tried to research others but not many stood out except for Yadix, Apari I think one was Forex metal also. There are so many FX brokers these days that clients are spread thin, it's hard to find one that most people use and like. After 2 days researching last week, I came up with no good source of reviews from clients. Most reviews are very outdated and just have a few comments.

This makes running EA's on MBT a very risky business during volatile periods. The logic of profit/Loss in the code versus what the platform is stating, could be a disaster if the entries or fills or indicator readings were being based on the Stale quotes. If anyone happened to be running any EA's during volatile periods on MBTrading platform please share your experience, on their functionality during that period.thanks

MBT platform today during the volatile periods of news , was fairly inaccurate.Placing an order on MBT got fills per the FXCM quotes (which were very stable during the volatility today).I was running two platforms, and could compare the two.My i7 processor should have had no trouble keeping up. MBT actually froze twice, just stopped flashing quote updates.Placing an order on MBT would fill and instantly the P/L would be showing either a large loss or large gain, depending on how far off MBT quotes were at that moment. FXCM ran stable through out. MBT charts are even missing bars (1 minute cha...

Think of the training period of a trading plan, like a Drug company testing a new drug for FDA approval.First they need a pool of participants to take the drug, but they can't use just anybody. The first pool starts out with 100 people, but they have to exclude anyone who is taking any other drugs. So that first rule (no drugs in past 2 months) will eliminate 25% of their pool of volunteers.Next they have to ensure there is no genetically related medical conditions in the remaining pool, that would skew the results of the drug being tested. So that rule, eliminates another 25% of the pool...

That is a good point, because from a manual trading perspective, the more indicators a trader uses to confirm his idea, then theoretically the greater chance the trade will perform as expected. It's a practice that reputable traders use and recommend, so you are absolutely right in that manual sense.Think of it from a Learning perspective though. Because training an automated model to think correctly, requires testing and training, in order to learn what works. Example, if I set a trading rule as : If Low of Bar is above 200 moving average then BUY.What that one rule just did is elimina...

Actually I have done quite a bit of testing using stochastic oscillator. Testing with RSI in comparison with Stochastic- I found stochastic more cyclical than RSI, so I never invested much time testing RSI. Though I did read a report on a successful system that used a 200 MA, in combination with a short term RSI pull back for entries. With stochastics, I did such things as:Establish threshold levels, and count the number of bars contained in that level, this helped provide a quantifiable exhaustion factor. For instance, how many bars has the stochastic 50 period been riding above 70 level. ...

I hope your coding skills are better than your marketing skills.. Cause they sort of suck. Turning an potential stranger into a prospect, and then into a paying client involves a lot more than spam,In fact it doesn't involve spam at all.

Manual traders and automated systems most often Both use indicators. Indicators are a form of automation, and typically part of automated trading model logic, and manual traders technical trading plan. The most common indicator could be the Moving Average. Moving average =Moving Mean. It is widely acknowledged by statisticians that Mean can be distorted by outliers in the sample. Whereas Median gives a more robust measure of price than Mean. http://www.bvmarketdata.com/pdf/Median-Mean.pdfMost charting platforms are filled with Moving Average choices, but not often Moving Medians. The most ...

The Gleason report, was a study (ad hock) revealing a mechanical moving average strategy which tested successful from 1963 to 1983, was less successful or not at all, from 1983 up to 2003. This report though not scientific by any stretch, demonstrates the evolution of price behavior over time, and the likely effect technology has in that evolution. The ability of automated systems to read the market and therefore trade it, change the market. The more systems there are, the more change occurs. Quantum mechanics famous "double slit" test, where merely observing an event, changed t...

mbtrading very bad attitude on the phone. Smart mouth reps, unprofessional and argumentative.I do have an account there for years, and was inquiring about mt4 demo recently and the dude was disrespectful and unwilling to even acknowledge that the platform's inability to increment micro lots with the same functionality that it does with mini and full lots, was an important capability. Denied that many people even use mico lots, therefore it wasn't really necessary to make the platform as useful for micro lot traders. MBT started out as a stand out company back after the dot com boom . ...

I think you missed the point. Other brokers slippage was 1/4 the slippage he mentioned at Y. It's the disproportional slippage between his broker and the other brokers that were also monitored at the time, that he suspects is the issue. Not slippage in general. If he is News Trader, then he obviously is aware of typical news slippage.I think a more thorough comparison between brokers during that release, would establish whether there was an unfair spread, and which news exactly it was on which date and time. Perhaps the date chosen to test the broker happened to be a monster news relea...

70%, nice.A Set up error, has no real bearing of merit of your trading plan. Think of it as a 3 days of work wasted, rather than a 4 digit loss. I'm sure you could work up an alert code to prevent a similar issue in the future. Never getting knocked down is not the sign of greatness. The sign of greatness is always getting back up.

Ahuruglica, there are many situations as you describe, and it's good to be a critical thinker. For example there was one well known trader that reportedly lost $340k in one trade, on one day. Was forced out of the trade by his broker. Many criticized him, for his approach. (He's since won many trading championships.)In the early stages of an account though, that same style could be genius. If the account blows when it's small then you can easily restart it. There are methods to slowly reduce risk and modify the style, in proportion to account growth. Even if you're right, ...

Rusty Nomad, thanks for the info. I'm still confused about something which is the main reason I was led to question the numbers. The start Balance says 38 dollars. Pepperstone has $200 opening minimum. I assume you are using a razor account? The amount of trades and pips and profit, on a $38 account is the part that seems hard to grasp, at least for me (mathematically). If I thought it then I'm sure others may also. So I'm glad you shared the extra info, and I do apologize. It s If it's all legit then you deserve credit. You have to admit, there is a lot of BS out there,...
