I get (two, to, and too) correct all the time too. I think it has to do with the similarity of the words when you learn them at first when you're a kid. if they are very different concepts, and the original spelling and pronounciation are very different, when you learn another language's word for that concept you still carry the concept's uniqueness along with you, even though the new words might sound similar. Does that make sense? For instance, these are very different concepts:dos = twoa = totambien = toode ellos = theirahi =thereellos son = they'rebut for me this is the s...

I've never used the wrong their/there/they're, and it baffles me when native speakers do it. I think the reason is that in Spanish these are completely different words that sound and are spelled nothing like each other. On the other hand, i often struggle with using "on" vs. "in".

Bob, making up your own language and convincing other people to speak it is not going to solve a damn thing or make the world a better place. I am speaking as someone who had to learn english as a second language, and I don't regret it. If it were up to me, Spanish would be the universal language. Grammar rules are much simpler and you know exactly how to pronounce a word from how it's written, and how to spell a word from how it's pronounced. That being said, what you or your committee will consider the perfect language, thousands of people will never accept. You will need to g...

We already have a universal standard language. It's called English. No need to learn another made-up languange.

I might wind up going with a signal service as suggested, at least in the short run. The only reason i don't consider it viable in the long run is because most signal services have flat per-transaction fees, winch incentivizes behaviors like churning, rather than performance though more of a profit sharing performance fee price structure.I understand in many cases they do this to be in compliance with the Dodd frank bill, but it's unfortunate that the government sees the continued need to meddle in the financial systems much to the detriment of investors and financial professionals.

For some time I've been toying with the idea of setting up a forex managed account service, and I've gone ahead and passed the series 3, series 34, and series 65 exams. I suppose the next steps would be to register with the nfa as a cpo and a cta, but the fees to do this are a little ridiculous for a little guy just starting out.Is it possible to instead structure a contract with my clients in such a way they're paying me to maintain the ea, essentially as a lease agreement? Technically i wouldn't be making any trades in their accounts, just my ea will be making the trades, an...

while i'm not ruling that out entirely, i shy away for a couple of reasons.1. my clients and i would prefer to have a performance-based fee structure rather than a fixed monthly or per-trade fee2. the signal service charges an additional fee for trade propagation and scaling (a feature my EAs already have). this is additional profit that can go to me and my clients.3. most services i've looked into have some crazy restrictions like the allowable fractional lot size or pending orders that can throw a wrench in how my eas operate

For some time i've entertained the idea of setting up a managed account with a US broker, but the exorbitant NFA fees have kept me from doing it, even though I've already passed the various series exams. it may not be much of a fee for a hedge fund, but it's prohibitive for a one-man operation just starting out. i'm now considering just drafting individual contracts directly with clients for development and operation of a forex EA that places trades on their accounts from my server. i could charge them whatever we agree on in the contract for the EA lease, and it could be ti...

I see what you're saying. One of the limitations of this system is that because it is so resource-hungry, it's impractical to do a 10-year backtest on all likely pair candidates, at least not until I build a supercomputing center someday :)As for funding it with a live account, the nature of this system also requires a rather large account for adequate risk management. I wish I had a few million dollars laying around, but that's unfortunately not the case. I could fund it with a smaller account, but I think I'll need at least 100k minimum. I might be able to make it work wi...

How long do most people test a system before they consider it stable and predictable enough to trade in a real account?

That's probably because most financial applications use a simple Brownian motion approach. My approach is based on Monte Carlo methods for modeling of subatomic particles with variable multidimensional sampling functions. This is a higher degree of complexity than even Markov chain approaches.Of course, whether it makes money or not remains to be seen.

The risk is set by the monte carlo uncertainty bands as TP/SL. A certain amount of principal is risked with each entry by adjusting the lots accordingly. The data in my broadcast system is the result of several experiments aimed at further analyzing my process and performing design-of-experiment analysis between different variants and operational modes. It is meaningless by itself without looking at my experimental setups and analysis on my blog. I plan on starting a proof-of-principle test aimed at making money in a month or two.

It makes a Monte Carlo simulation on every 1 minute bar, simulates the next two hours of trading, and if the probability of a move in any given direction is sufficiently high, it enters a trade.

Thanks, but I don't see how that could help. I'm using MT4, not trade station, and my EA is fully coded, so it's a little late for a GUI code generator. Besides, I doubt I'd be able to code a monte carlo routine in a canned code generator program, and if so, it's probably be more difficult and less efficient than using the scripting language itself. In addition, it seems like that software takes a history and optimizes an indicator-triggered trading routine over that given history. Those approaches tend to perform quite poorly during forward/live testing.

Actually, the tsunami exposed a vulnerability in a 40 year old BWR design, one that the new plant designs do not have. We now use passive cooling in the event of a complete loss of offsite power, so you wouldn't see what happened in Japan. It's also amazing how you place so much emphasis on the nuclear disaster. How many people died from Fukushima, and how many died from the earthquake and tsunami? It's easy to loose perspective when scary words like "nuclear" get thrown out there, but be my guest, cover the whole planet in wind mills and solar panels, good luck paying ...

It's semi-automatic. I wrote some VBA macros in excel to download the files from the site, format it appropriately, and export as a .csv copy in the file directory for each EA. Right now I'm running everything from a couple of ActiveX control buttons, one to fetch the data, and one to "publish" it once I vet it. At some point I may just make the whole process a scheduled task so it's full-auto.

Thanks, but I'm not really a math guru. I just have a master's in nuclear engineering, which lends itself well to this approach. I just hope it pays off.
