Supermarket chain Kroger Co. on Thursday maintained its fiscal 2024 earnings view and raised the low end of its guidance for identical sales without fuel, after reporting a profit in its second quarter, compared to prior year's loss, amid nearly flat sales. Adjusted earnings also beat market estimates. On the New York Stock Exchange, Korger shares were gaining around 3.8 percent.

U.S. Producer Prices Rise 0.2% In August, Slightly More Than Expected
A report released by the Labor Department on Thursday showed producer prices in the U.S. rose by slightly more than expected in the month of August. The Labor Department said its producer price index for final demand crept up by 0.2 percent in August, while revised data showed prices were unchanged in July. Economists had expected producer prices to inch up by 0.1 percent.

ECB Cuts Interest Rates On Weaker Eurozone Growth Outlook
The European Central Bank reduced its key interest rates by 25 basis points on Thursday, as expected, as the euro area growth is expected to slow on weaker demand and core inflationary pressures remain high, thanks to the stickiness of services inflation. The Governing Council, led by ECB President Christine Lagarde, lowered the deposit facility rate, which is the new policy rate, to 3.50 percent.
