South Korea GDP Slips 0.2% In Q2
(RTTNews) - South Korea's gross domestic product unexpectedly contracted a seasonally adjusted 0.2 percent on quarter in the second quarter of 2024, the Bank of Korea said in Thursday's preliminary report.
That missed expectations for an increase of 0.1 percent and was down from 1.3 percent in the first quarter.
On an annualized basis, GDP was up 2.3 percent - again missing forecasts for 2.5 percent and slowing from 3.3 percent in the three months prior.
Real gross domestic income (GDI) shed 1.3 percent compared on quarter but climbed 4.4 percent on year.
