In principle, Alligator Technical Indicator is a combination of Balance Lines (Moving Averages) that use fractal geometry and nonlinear dynamics.

The blue line (Alligator’s Jaw) is the Balance Line for the timeframe that was used to build the chart (13-period Smoothed Moving Average, moved into the future by 8 bars);


The red line (Alligator’s Teeth) is the Balance Line for the value timeframe of one level lower (8-period Smoothed Moving Average, moved by 5 bars into the future);


The green line (Alligator’s Lips) is the Balance Line for the value timeframe, one more level lower (5-period Smoothed Moving Average, moved by 3 bars into the future).


Lips, Teeth and Jaw of the Alligator show the interaction of different time periods. As clear trends can be seen only 15 to 30 per cent of the time, it is essential to follow them and refrain from working on markets that fluctuate only within certain price periods.

When the Jaw, the Teeth and the Lips are closed or intertwined, it means the Alligator is going to sleep or is asleep already. As it sleeps, it gets hungrier and hungrier — the longer it will sleep, the hungrier it will wake up. The first thing it does after it wakes up is to open its mouth and yawn. Then the smell of food comes to its nostrils: flesh of a bull or flesh of a bear, and the Alligator starts to hunt it. Having eaten enough to feel quite full, the Alligator starts to lose the interest to the food/price (Balance Lines join together) — this is the time to fix the profit.

Order #1 opened and did not quite make it to our Trailing Stop target. Price reversed and hit our SL. Order #2 in sequence finally broke out of the channel and we recovered losses and made some money.

Shut trades and EA down for the holiday - Happy Easter

Adjusted chart to show results since finding that EURJPY at max lots is the best solution thus far.

EA is loaded on EURJPY chart prior to Tokyo open and allowed to run through London and US until order sequence fulfilled. In backtest, the pair showed 95% accuracy in closing with gains within the 4 order sequence and showed account gains of 65% within 100 trading sessions.

Now we need to see if that continues on this live account

No changes. Just chose to follow a single pair that had the best results in back tests

ok... We can watch it starting sunday night! I have over heated my laptop 3 times in the last 2 days..........arggg. Im going to have to slow the speed of back testing down and or turn off one more broker. It cant handle 2 brokers back testing at the same time. Its a I5 HP laptop. My EA is PC chip intensive....

Hehe - since JPY has a holiday - i am running tonights trade on EURUSD. But, I am running EURJPY on the demo account to see if I was right to do so.

I watched it take the 16 pip score!!!!!

Five Year Back Test - May 2009 to date

The above back test does not compound profit by increasing lot size. If that were done, there would be much greater profit potential than the 500% gain shown.

ahhhh.... back testing on that EA NOW? wow.... Cool

So, thats the same lot size from start to finnish? The next thing you can add is Managed trade sizes? I have one of my EAs set at $1000 is 1% for 0.01 and the other EA is $500 at 1% for 0.01
