Huge gain or limited Risk- What is important to you?

I care more about managing risk. I do risk more on trades that I’m more confident about, but the main goal is to lose less money than I make. I might risk more in the future once I’ve been trading for longer, but it isn’t worth the chance of losing so much to me right now.

Great points! I guess I’ll share my thoughts as well -1.) I agree that things are usually more up to the trader as far as profits and things go (as long as the broker isn’t a complete scammer). Also, like the whole tree planting thing you mentioned. Never seen a broker that actually makes an effort for the environment before.2 & 3.) Good point but newbies need to know how often terms & conditions can make it difficult to withdraw bonus money. I see so many threads where people are confused as to why they cannot withdraw their profits because they didn't read the terms so they haven't traded the specified number of lots or some other reason. It's also notable that scammers sometimes draw in beginners with too good to be true offers when the reality is that their terms are awful. What's a $30 bonus good for if you're paying spreads that are three times the average with 7% fees on every withdrawal...

Having a good understanding and background knowledge is key to getting off to the right start. I think demo practice is also very helpful even if it is not technically a necessity.

Good point.I do think that demo accounts are one of the best hands on tools that traders can access. It really helps one to gain an understanding and idea of how trading works, test strategies, learn the mechanics of trading and so on. I personally prefer MT4 even though MT5 is available. It’s easy to use and there are plenty of tutorials online, especially on YouTube. It’s also one of the most widely available and popular platforms out there.

Most brokers offer demo accounts. The only differences would be that certain aspects like the spread may differ based on the broker. I started trading on a demo with CedarFX on MT4 and switched to a live account later on. Never had any issues with the demo account, and support is online 24/7 so I suppose that could be helpful if you needed any assistance.
