(RTTNews) - The Labor Department released a report on Tuesday showing import prices in the U.S. were unexpectedly flat in the month of June.
The report said import prices were unchanged in June after dipping by a revised 0.2 percent in May. Economists had expected import prices to rise by 0.2 percent compared to the 0.4 percent decrease originally reported for the previous month.
Meanwhile, the Labor Department said export prices declined by 0.5 percent in June after falling by a revised 0.7 percent in May.
Export prices were expected to edge down by 0.1 percent compared to the 0.6 percent decrease originally reported for the previous month.

Payroll processor ADP released a report on Wednesday showing private sector employment in the U.S. shot up by much more than anticipated in the month of October. ADP said private sector employment surged by 233,000 jobs in October after jumping by an upwardly revised 159,000 jobs in September. Economists had expected private sector employment to climb by 115,000 jobs.

The Conference Board said its consumer confidence index surged to 108.7 in October after tumbling to a revised 99.2 in September. Consumer sentiment in the U.S. unexpectedly improved in the month of October, according to revised data released by the University of Michigan on Friday. The University of Michigan said its consumer sentiment index for October was upwardly revised to 70.5 from a preliminary reading of 68.9.
