FXCM vs Oanda spread, I'm showing Oanda tighter?

I just checked again today, and again FXCM 2,8 and Oanda 1.4 spread on eurusd. Can that be right? How is a STP broker double the spread of a Dealing desk broker? Am I overlooking something?

Hi, I was comparing spreads yesterday and today between FXCM and Oanda, on EURUSD . both days I show FXCM over 2 pip spread. Today again at this moment FXCM is 2.7 pip spread and Oanda 1.4 pip spread. How can that be if FXCM is a non dealing desk STP broker and Oanda is dealing desk?Am I doing something incorrectly, or what? you can goto forexchurch.com/forex-spreads.cfm and see for yourself, I also have a terminal up that is exactly the same as forexchurch site spreads.ThanksJohn

Yes, I think it can even do better live, because of the skewed spread method used in backtesting. The larger the spread setting in backtesting the more favored short trades are. This means a bearish backtest data set would show artificial strength in shorts and weakness in longs. live testing has balanced bid.ask prices, so shorts are not favored. Live testing is critical to assess true potential.

You did a really good job, congrats. Not an easy thing to do.Can you tell me what spread setting you typically use when back-testing? And how it differs from live spread results/fills in live so far? Thanks
USA broker suggestions based on your personal experience?

Hi, I have to choose a United States broker in order to run my EA. I live in U.S. I would hate to have to use a dealing desk broker but there are so few choices. FXCM scares me now since they almost went belly up, and their stock has never recovered, which says a lot too.Any other ideas based on your own personal experience? Thanks
