Most definitely I have gotten those offers. I have gotten so many refunds on worthless EAs that i have lost count. Never heard of the Blessing EA. I will have to go hunt it up. I am currently teaching myself mql4 so that i can program a few of my own systems. I actually stumbled across a system that cannot be traded by a human (because there is too much processing to do) that has shown an incredibly high return. I used the strategy tester to slowly step through and test the concept. It shows to produce 500-1500 pips every 24 hour period. Ergo...the reason why i am having to teach myself mql4. ...

I have an engineering mindset, so it just sort of makes sense to me. That plus I have obsessively researched the forex market and mt4 and EAs.

Yes. I have seen what over optimization and curve fitting can do. I take measures to intentionally avoid that.

Actually, I have multiple witnesses that i correctly identified a tremendous market change that would stay for an extended period the first week of June. Had I thought to optimize my FGB then, I would be $9000 richer at a minimum.

This insane volatility has been rough to deal with lately. After how the FGB handled it...I honestly would prefer that the markets continue to go crazy. I will be rich by next month! :)

Testing these setting over a longer period would be pointless. The market does not act the way it used to. The current market requires different settings that operate efficiently with the way it acts now. My old setting which worked well over the past year, have made very little in the past couple of months due to losses. I am quite certain that over the long term, these settings will not be the best due to the way this EA trades. it will be necessary to update them again when the market changes again, as it always does.

You do an optimization with the mt4 strategy tester. If you do a search on google you will find lots of info about it.

Wow. Wish i had thought to optimize for the recent price data earlier. Did a test with 99% accuracy and with my new settings....using 0.1 lot size....from June 1st through aug 10th......I show a gain of nearly +$9000. Not curve fit either. That is approximately +9000 pips in about 2.5 months. The drawdown was about 12% at max. the absolute drawdown was about $250. FGB is a very impressive EA...if you remember to update the settings every once in a while.

HA! Serves them right for screwing people over. I wouldn't be surprised if most brokerages do this kind of stuff though.

mirusevxs33, I am not sure where you are getting your information. I am getting mine from people that have looked into setting up brokerages, people who have worked at brokerages, and from people who work at the liquidity providers, like boston technologies. The accounts you really have to watch the brokers for is the 4 digit price feeds. Those are run through a dealing desk and the order fills are not actual market fills. A lot are taken by the broker in opposition to the trader. In the ECN/STP accounts, the brokers can't take the other side of the order and trade against the client....ot...

From what I understand, I believe the 5 digit pricing is available to us retail traders because that is how the interbank market prices everything. Without the 5 digit pricing, ECN and STP accounts are not possible.

Just read it. That is true ECN/STP behavior. Unless there is super high volume and the market isn't moving fast, AND you have super fast order execution, slippage is pretty much guaranteed. I can say that FXCM is the only broker that I have received positive slippage with. Even this last week when the EURUSD gapped up about 150pips (i had a long position)....FXOpen's ECN platform gave me the order fill. It was, of course at my TP level, which was about 100 pips less than what the market opened at.

I have had pretty good luck with a finfx normal account. FXOpen seemed to have a little faster response than finfx. Maybe physical location vs server location though. In all honesty, the fastest broker I have dealt with was FXCM. Their order execution was so fast it almost felt like the order was executed before I could even click the mouse. That was not with their mt4 platform though, it was their Trade Station II software. I have heard a few people say that the absolute fastest responding broker is MB Trading, but they don't work right with MDP. Also, recently I have read some posts that...

Those timings are very good on Iamfx. Best i have seen anywhere as a matter of fact. I am getting 400ms with FXOpen but my VPS is a little over 1500 miles away from the server location. One good thing about my ECN account is, my effective spread (spread plus commission). The real spread averages around 0.7 pip and the commission is 0.25pip. So my effective spread sits at about 1 pip.

Normally, I look at demo account tests with some validity. With MDP, demo accounts have zero validity except to say that in a perfect environment it succeeds. The biggest challenges to MDP are slippage and execution speed. In a demo account, slippage doesn't happen. So, you always get perfect order fills. In the real world, you will only sometimes get the price you send the order for. It will almost always be slipped by at least a few tenths of a pip. This would be no big deal if your target is 20 pips, or 50pips, or greater. When you are trying for 1 pip, or 4 pips...then slippage becomes...
