Thanks ProfessorGold, I only see short term sideways movements in my charts, will watch to see how it plays out. Was going to short silver in the last 8 hours for a quick 15c return, however was too tired to watch it.cheers, Cameron

Thanks Martin, I agree. The other aspect is the crowd mentality and how the majority get it wrong, and less than 20% of traders make money (with a very small percent making good money). One would think that if the majority would determine the trend of the market, however just goes to show that manipulation by central banks and large commercials have a big influence on direction.I agree that you just have to trade your own system based on your personality - which in turn reflects your level of risk, lot sizes, trading during volatility, timing of trades etc..I am lucky being in Australia as I am...

Good on you Professor Gold! Tell me about your gold trading approach. I am still baffled by the fact that there are not many gold and silver systems out there.cheers, Cameron

I would be careful with leveraged shorts and make sure you can ride out moves like we have seen this morning (Mon 5th Dec) as a result of Italian referendum. My approach is to wait for over bought or over sold scenarios and play those, get in and out in a matter of 2-6 hours and do not sit on them overnight.Still it is interesting, the commentators I listen to have all change from bullish views to bearish in the last month. So it looks like Harry Dent potentially made the right call!?I just got in on a silver short trade, probably silly timing, however not going to be a long term position.

Am not sure if you would all agree, however coming from forex trading with limited success, I have found gold and silver trading to be much easier. Key differences to me were...1) use longer time frames on charts2) keep charts simple, and I only use 2 indicators3) use longer term trend-lines and watch for trend line bounces and breaksStill there is quite a lot of manipulation going on with gold and silver and you do notice the lower levels of liquidity. Also keep in mind that gold analysts and commentators out there do not know as much as they indicate they know. There are some saying gold is h...

Hi Benjamin, the 'boss' is the wife! Don't get me started on them though and be careful - they will go for battlers like you and I trying to have a go and get out of the 'rat race'.

Hooray, this is the first year out of the last 10 years that my wife has not told me to give up trading forex! It is normally around tax time that the boss goes through the bank account statements and where forex related transactions are scrutinised. It really is about persistence and I feel for all you traders out there that do not have the support of your partner in your forex trading journey - like what I have put up with for so long. Now that profits are being made I am finding my wife more interested in what I do - what about the last 10 years of staying up late gazing at multiple monitor...

Hi @MLAlford , I see your comment about forex trading being tax free - are you sure? Would be fantastic if it was. I would assume forex traders would come under 'share trading' see here - https://www.ato.gov.au/general/capital-gains-tax/in-detail/shares,-units-and-similar-investments/claiming-losses-from-the-disposal-of-investments/?page=4 and you can claim losses. I will ask a mate who is an accountant and doubt that we would be that lucky! I see the ATO are auditing musicians this year and my brother who is a part-time muso sent me a notification from the ATO and the example they gav...
Signal Results on Live vs Demo accounts

Jul 25, 2015 at 10:45
Can anyone answer why some signal providers promote their systems on demo accounts over live accounts? One person that promotes his signals a lot on here says he uses demo account for better performance and quicker execution to live accounts - this does not make sense to me. If anything the performance on a live account should be more stable as it is using real money, where demo accounts are play money. For my system I use a live account and would expect than anyone looking to use signals should ensure the provider is using a live account as well. There is a psychological difference for the trad...

Thank you gents for your discussion, which is very topical for me at the moment.I have also asked a few Australian brokers (IC Markets and Think Forex) about this in the past, however they have come back with very vague responses - one saying that the limited power of attorney was sufficient. I also recall discussing this with a crowd in Sydney and they could not set up a PAMM without an AFSL however they could set up a 'club' and have investors pay a 'membership fee' and place their funds in a managed account. My interpretation is that Signals are ok, the signal purchaser is tr...

EA that actually works

Jul 23, 2015 at 06:58
Am noticing that a lot of these 'EAs that actual work' are no longer.Personally I have turned off my EA for the moment and would actually prefer to trade manually while the EURUSD and AUDUSD are choppy and not trending. At least if you are manually trading you have a feel for the current market and movements. My approach was different when I was working on Forex Wave Rider trading rules, rather than starting with the EA and making it profitable with testing, I started with plan and broke it down into sections. I think many EAs out there are a result of extensive trial and error and then...
