Sensex, Nifty Modestly Higher In Early Trade
(RTTNews) - Indian shares opened flat to slightly higher on Friday amid muted cues from global markets as 2024 draws to a close
The benchmark S&P/BSE Sensex was up 242 points, or 0.3 percent, at 78,715 in early trade while the broader NSE Nifty index was up 82 points, or 0.4 percent, at 23,832.
IndusInd Bank advanced 1.4 percent on news it plans to sell nearly Rs 1,500 crore worth of bad loans.
Mahindra & Mahindra, Dr Reddy's Laboratories, Bajaj Auto and Tata Motors were up 1-2 percent while HCL Technologies, Adani Ports and TCS were seeing modest losses.
Religare Enterprises dropped 1.3 percent as the Madhya Pradesh High Court halted an annual general meeting of the company scheduled to take place on Dec. 31 and also stayed the RBI's approval of the Burman family's open offer to acquire an additional 26 percent stake in the company.
Reliance Power rose over 1 percent after the Delhi High Court granted interim relief to its subsidiary, Reliance NU BESS, in a petition pertaining to disqualification from participating in three bids.
