Im not talking about placing stops. I'm talking about what percent of your account you use to open positions. Everyone seems to keep answering with "risk" . Risk means how much of your account you use to place your stops. For example. If I have $10,000 in my trading account and risk 5% for my stops. Thats $500 bucks I use for my stops.. Right ? So my stops are set at $500 . I can spread that $500 over 2 trades or 3 trades. or whatever. So I have $9500 left in my account now to open positions . How would you handle this ? I understand everything about pip value . $1 per pip $5 per ...

The ones who are the con artist will eventually get whats coming to them. Just know that you will not be one of the victims.

Maybe you should try ignoring who you think are the con artist. Everyone here is old enough to take care of themselves. If they allow themselves to be taken then they deserve what they get.

I'm sorry I must be in the wrong place. I thought myfxbook was a place for adults to connect live and demo accounts to this websites service to help us all track our trading progress more efficiently . I think I must have stumbled upon a 3rd grade classroom.

Someone told me a couple of years ago " Most retail traders are right when trading, the problem is they are right at the wrong time"There are 2 axis on a chart , price and time . Time is the one that is ignored.

My problems starting out was over trading. I felt like I always needed to be in a trade, or I was missing something. What I ended up missing was my money. Now after learning that there is no shortage of trades (haha) I can wait for the setups I am looking for and then trade. Sometimes the best trade is no trade. And your number 5 yes. Patients was a big down fall for me. If my trade was not going the way i wanted it to I would close it. I never let the market do its job for me. In and out of trades like an idiot, expecting immediate rewards. Needless to say they never came. 2 years later. I am p...

So I will ask it again in yet another way. What percent of your account do you use to open positions? for example, is it between 10% and 50% but never more then 60% ?What is your risk level ? When it comes to placing stops ? Is it between 2% and 10% Never over 10% ?Or is it a secret? HAHA jk

Yes I agree and thanks for the reply. Each trader maybe has a limit no matter the personality or trading strategy. Maybe something like this..... I will never use more then ?% of my balance to open a position or positions. And I will never risk more then ?% on any trade or group of trades at 1 time.Does that make sense ? What I'm trying to find is I guess is, what is YOUR answer to that personally. Thanks again

I'm curious what % of your account balance most of the pros here use to open positions ?And what percent of your accounts do you risk ? Do you set stops to total 2% of your account 5% ...? Just wondering if there is some consensus out there amongst experienced successful traders. Thanks for the input

I watch these trading contests on this website, and i just looked at the FXCM contest and the leader is up 590% in about a week of trading a $50,000 demo acct. A profit of about $295,000 in 6 days trading. I dont get it. Why is this guy and people like him in an FXCM contest on myfxbook.com ?Why arent they in a 10 million dollar house on Lanai, Hawaii trading from there just 1 week a month ?Something is wrong here. I would find the $50,000 to trade live if I can profit 300k in 6 days. Wouldn't you?Am I missing something here ?

When drawing trend lines , wick or body ? Or sometimes both? Or the tips of the wick but through some other wicks?Just curious of what traders are doing when they draw trend lines. I use Demark Trend Lines sometimes auto and they use the wick tips as you probably know. I find myself drawing trend lines freehand using a variety of ways on different pairs. What do you do?Thanks for the input.

Maybe I am missing it but it would be nice to be able to sort the forum posts and maybe a search bar as well.Sort by newest posts or by star rating. Something to sift through more easily. As you go through the posts the dates are all over the map.
