US level 2 market depth & what market makers actually do

I thought this thread is about market depth. I'm not very experienced about forex DOM, but I've been watching the S&P500 e-mini for years. When the mid-size players, or your broker, wants the price to move up (for example), they will load up the bid sizes. But that's just an illusion to lure others to bid above their price or short-sellers to close their positions (the retail customers). You can confirm the illusion when price reaches that bid price and the transaction volume remains very low, meaning they actually cancelled their orders. A single row of huge bid/ask size doesn&...

I read in other forums that fxopen is banned or investigated by regulators. I think it's safer to choose a broker from a well regulated environment, so that even with various tools to play against their customers, they will be less likely to use those tools.

I am not a programmer, so.... things like that are extremely difficult for me. Having said that, I do realize that perhaps it is better to use another software to link up and send orders as and when necessary. I've read about the virtual plug in and stuff like that, and other forum folks have mentioned that whatever platform the broker uses, they have tools to gather a lot of information.Still, many good brokers are regulated in countries with strong legal framework, so even if tools are available, there's such a thing as code of ethics to comply with.It will be really nice if there...

Hello again,I've asked my friend to install MT4 and gave him the investor password, try his best to mess up the EA or trade. His response was he can only see the trade details, history, and journal. That's about it.So up until now, I suppose it is safe 😀

let's see...kenny, I was referring to placing pending limit orders to open a position, not the SL and TP. the order entry window that pops up refuses to accept orders that are less than 3 pips away. other brokers like alpari (1.6-1.8 pips away), mig bank about 5 pips away, and etc etc. every broker is different.pending (limit order), I should be able to place it 0 pips away from bid/ask. if the broker is truly ECN, I should be able to place my limit order between the bid and the ask, and my size will be reflected accordingly, being the only one in the queue.but I'm not that demanding i...

If IBFX is ECN already, I wouldn't need to place my order 3 pips away from the bid/ask. Maybe some time in the future....still waiting and looking around.

Thanks for the suggestions, dukascopy has PAMM, but in java.alpari UK has MAM, but the multi MT4 platform does not support EA (fully automated system)openFX not from preferred regulated environment (don't feel safe enough)IBFX market maker (not ECN-STP)and the list goes on.... I couldn't find any broker that fits the requirements, at least not yet.Hope someone can find some broker in the world that has all the requirements, and I'm sure a lot of business will go to them.Cheers

*sigh* I got personal attacks from that guy, even in private message. his whip will be on you next, be careful. I'm so unworthy I've decided to blindfold myself to all his posts. Unless of course he is out to fraud or scam, then it will become every netizen's duty to sound the alarm. But to date, he's still alright in character.

Can anyone recommend a broker for money managers?Requirements:#1 reliable and regulated, funds are safe#2 STP-ECN#3 Can use MT4 to trade, can place limit orders at the bid/ask, supporting fully automated EA, even for sub-linked accounts and total funds under management#4 broker back end distributes the performance fees according to the manager-client agreement. So far in searching through the internet, I've found some good brokers that have 3 out of the 4 requirements, but couldn't find any that matches all the requirements. I don't want to handle the clients' money. I just need...

Soeren, thanks for the advise. my knowledge of java is zero 😄when I converted, the java code compiled successfully, but had to wait 9 hours for a 10-year test which yielded zero trades.I'll be asking around. Wonder if using NinjaTrader or RightEdge and link up to forex futures on globex will be a better path forward. In the meantime, I suppose I will just have to learn more about java.

certainly hope they develop a bridge for mt4, or some way for their platform to "copy" the orders from mt4. I tried their code converter in JForex, 1500 lines of MQL to 2400 lines of Java, and the test results didn't produce any trades. at the moment, seems that I need to learn java, or look to other 3rd party software to link to their API.
Verifying MT4 account without investor password.

I think when you log into your MT4, under change password setting, you can change the investor password. From there you can follow the instructions and get your trading privileges verified.

geez dude, all I did was be the devil's advocate and highlight certain issues that the world audience may want to know. what did I do to deserve all this personal attack? doesn't show much maturity, and definitely not fund manager characteristics. anyway, it's your life and your game. have it your way. kindly quote the statement of my post that you deem arrogant, I didn't realise mathematical statements were arrogant. you said it yourself, 77% wins, and high drawdown on the rare few losers. that's your performance, and nothing to do with my "arrogance", I'm me...

well, if you get hit another time, you will need to double your account just to get back to the original starting balance. seems like you have really huge stop-loss and inverted risk/reward ratio. nothing wrong with that, as long as your plan works in the long run. 20% per month, so if I observe you for 24 months, you should be a millionaire already. I'll invest in the year 2013, if your claim is true. Best of luck.
Is there anyone willing to share their Money Management strategy?

I have a different view. I think it all depends on the combination of strategies deployed. For my system, if I size down as described above, I will be on a much smaller size when the winner comes. That defeats the purpose of risk/reward planning. Similarly, if I size up during a winning streak, the next loser will be a big hit to the account. So personally, I'd keep things simple. Perhaps size = 5%, maximum loss = 2%, or some other ratio that will not have a significant impact on trading size during periods of drawdown, so that the account can recover.

Thanks for the reply, but I will need to check out on another computer (probably a friend's computer that has never installed MT4) to verify. I will keep you posted.

I am lost here. I agree mostly with kennyhubbard's logic. If other group members withdraw their money until they have no more free margin, another 1 pip move against the position should force them to close their position (partial close of total size), where I am the only one hanging onto the losing trade with unrealised losses (half the original size), but not yet getting margin-called. When the size is reduced by half, the free margin that I have remaining will have sufficient buffer as though I went in alone right from the start. Can anyone enlighten all of us here?

Hmm.... I tend to agree with some other members here. I subscribe to 2 ISP, make sure my notebook has backup power, and another standby notebook just in case the first one crashes. Give other people your code and it becomes their property. Why play poker if you are so eager to show your hand? Just my own view though. Good luck with your choice of VPS.Cheers.

Hi,I am new here in myfxbook. I tried to log into my MT4 account using the investor password. The system says that trades are not allowed, but I was quite shocked that I was enabled to remove an EA, or attach a different EA to the chart. My concern is, how will the new attachment work? Does it execute trades? (ie, other people can attaach their EA onto my account and their robot starts to trade on my account) If I put my EA to work, is the investor log-in path able to disable my EA, and prevent the robot from doing its work?Another concern is, when someone else logs in using the investor passw...
