I really couldn’t have put it better. Different time frames are suitable for different people. I too prefer the shorter time frames because I don’t like keeping a position open for days on end.

You really should have chosen a regulated broker. You should also check their license number in the website of regulation authorities. Try to avoid unknown broker. Running MT4 in Mac would be far better than using it into a Linux by Wine. My personal experience with 'Wine' is bad. I was unable to save profile with an EA! So, I had to do it over and over again.
