if pending orders are used you won't see a difference between 5ms and 50ms. over 100 ms will be felt.

I was thinking along the similar lines by utilizing order book and reference institutional feed provided by Black Light Data (orderbookfx), but in my opinion their signals only good for sub-pip, or 1-2 pips moves, so unless you pay no spread the strategy will be struggling to break even and then you add commissions and costs.. Would be possible to trade that way with an access like market makers have but it's a different level of the game, nothing to do with retail/prop trading. Same as with manual trading: you need to have a portfolio of trading methods for different trading conditions. Currently I have FGB down but manual trading offsets odd MDP losses and slowly builds account up.. But as you say when time is right MDP rocks.

I don't see any point in trading with broker that would slip you constantly be it MDP or something else. It only means their market making ability or their liquidity provider's market making ability sucks or non-exist. Market making is good for traders, otherwise spreads would be huge and slippage dramatic. Thus said, my broker is also ECN/STP. But this model of operating does not forbid to make market as long as they always pass the best price, be it from liquidity providers or themselves.

I am yet to see any slippage with pending orders. In retail forex 99% liquidity is provided by your broker, so talking about liquidity in regards to filling your order is nonsense unless you trade directly with bank and execute 100-lots positions. Liquidity all are concerned about influence market moves (they become unsustainable which is good for MDP) and spreads that rise (which is bad but if spread is over the top MDP won't trade).

Fughe, usually low liquidity periods are characterized by spike-reverse range-bound action, usually a norm for December. Should be good for MDP

What platform you will be using? If you are serious about HFT you need a DMA and institutional access to trade within spread, so 10k looks very naive in my opinion. Unless you mean something like MDP and MT4...

I assumed you use stop orders for entry and exit on trailing stop if you use market orders then yes, slippage is inevitable in most conditions.PS I got what you mean by slippage of 10 pips, you refer to 10 piplets or 1.0 normal pip. Yes, it's pretty much ok in my book too, I was afraid of your mental health when heard about 10 full pips :)

Slippage is only justified when liquidity is not available, i.e. when market makers are withdrawn (before news or during Asia for example) or when market is moving one way (news spike), otherwise slippage should not occur in excess of few piplets. MDP does not trade spikes, it trades retracements, so entry should have little or no slippage at all, and exit might cause some slippage if spike continuation happens, but still not "under 10 pips". MDP mostly catches 2-3-5 pips, if your broker slips you under 10 pips and you are happy.... you must be the Salvation Army.

BTW, I had shut down now MDP live accounts for good: no more news but the conference, all these political talks-generated spikes proved to be deadly for MDP, 9/10 losses. Reasons for that is that dealers don't fade them unlike normal news spikes or more regular spikes due to big orders, etc.

That's normal practice for any brokers besides bucket shops, who freeze the platform instead. There is a good reason for that: market makers withdraw liquidity from the interbank before significant news releases and brokers stand much bigger risks.

Last month ECB + BOE gave us wonderful trades. These spikes tend to reverse fast, same as FOMC when they announce something, so good for MDP but keep your finger on the close-out script launcher.
