How to Be an Expert in Forex Trading: Some Tips
一般

Oct 10, 2016 at 16:15
Nice thread. My tips:1. Be critical. Nobody really knows what's going on - still everybody wants you to listen them.Before taking trading advice from someone, check if he even has any success on his trading. (Yeah, shouldn't listen to me)2. DONT stick to a certain strategy. You have to improve yourself - and your strategy. Although changing your stratedy surely leads to many failures and loss of money, its the only way to real success. 3. Don't lose more money than you have to. This doesn't only mean stop-losses, but also find a way to test your strategy without betting everyth...

Correct, but that doesn't mean you get more profit - the pips are just "cheaper" in euraud. Currencies are relative, so you cant compare them with pips, use percents. A 10% move in audusd would require x pips, while the same 10% move requires 2x pips in euraud - because the euraud price is roughly twice the audusd's.= I still disagree with you, and I think you overcomplicate things to see something thats not actually there. But I'll stop this nonsense now as @togr suggested :D

No, you dont get the same amount of different currencies. If eurusd rate is 2, you get 2 usd "units" for every 1 euro "unit" ="€". I wonder how you can make any strategy with such knowledge of the system.

I think everyone here understands the consept of supply and demand, and reasons why price moves - vontogr's question is more philosophical one. I guess he means the price change as paradox like the Zeno's paradox: turtle is ahead of a rabbit but the gap is getting smaller - first 50%, then 25%, then 12.5% and so on, but the rabbit never reaches the turtle. The relation to forex is a bit misty but it's there :D

Well, the zero sum thing maybe an illusion: we usually think the chart is some continuous line, like y=2x or something, while it is actually a series of INDIVIDUAL points we like to connect together 😑

nope, still can't see it :D Orders need a counterpart to fill, yeah, but there is usually more bulls than bears or vice versa. The price goes up because bulls buy everything at price 1€ - to buy more, bulls are then ready to pay price 2€ which more people are willing to sell at.

Lets do more math: Buy EURUSD, sell GBPUSD, sell EURGBP 1.0 lot EACH.Lets use the rates from previous week close:EURUSD 1.12369GBPUSD 1.29750EURGBP 0.86572From 1st trade we got +100 000€ and -112 369$From 2nd trade we got -100 000£ and +129 750$From 3rd trade we got -100 000€ and +86 572£Now we add the money piles together:100 000€ - 100 000€ = 0€129 750$ - 112 369$ = 17 381$86 572£ - 100 000£ = -13 428 £We have left some dollars and owe some punds, which is the same as simply shorting GBPUSD. Why should we short it more complicated, wit...

I don't see the paradox here.. The chart just shows the prices buyers and sellers came to agreement in the past.Current agreement price doesn't care about other agreements, it can be any value - though it is usually close to the last price, which makes charting possible.

@bestdarngood Yeah, so you basically buy the 2 extra pairs and then immediately close them, resulting you end up with the 1 pair and extra commissions :D

I don't see the way how moving money in a circle would bring extra profits (even without considering commissions). The ea may work on backtest due to some glitch - you don't seem to have real trading results...

That's quite profitable method, I have made many eas like this. Thing is, it is not "hedgind" as the word means protecting for potential losses - it more like betting "I bet another 0.5 lots the trend will not go further" and so on.. You will get nice steady profits, until one day you bet wrong too many times. Like a fancy martingale.

yup, its not just a "theory", its pure mathematics. EUR/USD x USD/JPY x JPY/EUR => EUR/EUR x USD/USD x JPY/JPY = 1. key principle of forex pairing, it would be useless without.

Welcome to follow the success story of my holy grail. I'm serious, this is some pretty good system. I have been building EAs since 2013, and after hundreds of working and studying hours, this is the final product. I'm planning to run the demo for some more weeks to confirm the positive backtest results, then code the ea for mt4 and start real trading. If you want to make some money with my strategy, just contact me.

I think 0.0001 is a pip, and 0.00001 is a point. However there seems to be lot of misusing those words, some people think pip is always the smallest movement, regardless if the broker uses 4 or 5 digits. Yeah, its a mess :D

Many want to compare forex to things like casino games simply because it is a good comparison. Both forex and casino always have risk, and nobody can't predict them with 100% accuracy. If you really could always accurately predict the price movement, you should be world's richest man already.

Very good points by nickz, I hope all starting traders see this thread. Yes, many scalping systems have small draw down - this is usually achieved with big sl or martingale. This way the risk is hidden: there are lots of small profits and never losing trades. Until the big lose happens, wiping out all the profits. You can't remove laws of probability with martingale, but you can hide them.
