economics, in my opinion, is the science of properly and efficiently operating an economy.

i enjoy listening to common people express their opinions about the state of our economy.

oh, they say, i see that xyz pavement company is hiring road crew workers, the economy must be on an upswing.

one man told me that he felt that the economy is making a comeback cuz he has had four jobs this week from his advertisement on craigslist where he bills himself out as a trash hauler, omg..

when i was only in the fifth grade in elementary school, the teacher told us that a man has three basic needs..

2. clothing
3. shelter

personally, i would add a couple of items to that list..

1. food
2. clothing
3. shelter
4. communications
5. transportation

if all parties that are members of a particular economy have been provided with the above items, then and only then do we have a properly operated and well balanced economy. there are other issues that require careful consideration, but this is economics 101, imo..

non-profits serve as a drain on an economy and the same goes for building roads and the hauling of trash.
