Hi Roger, nice to see you here. So what are your thoughts on FxPapa? Do you think it is grid? Grids always seem to crash. Look at Tom's EA and particularly GridMeUp for a longrunning (over a year) example that just hit its huge (potentially account crushing) drawdown. It would be so easy for the vendor to just add a fixed SL option/feature. I wish they would.

It definitely looks like a grid trading system. Search myfxbook for GridMeUp if you want to see a very similar balance and equity graph. Definitely a problem if it is not exiting trades at the DD/risk limit (15% as stated by vendor). My guess is that they saw the trades approaching the 15% and kicked it up to 30% or something like that, so as not to take the loss. It's a gamble, but maybe they are betting on GBP weakening in light of Greece situation. He said that FxPapa is an automated strategy that is tempered by fundamental analysis and human intervention. Please respond FxPapa and expl...

Hi FxPapa, is it a grid trading strategy? Does the strategy wait some time after sustaining the 3 losing trades equal to the DD/risk setting or can it potentially keep opening another set of 3 trades and losing again? Thanks.

I have a question about the strategy. Have you been monitoring the floating drawdown when it eventually wins vs loses? Is there a sweet spot point of no return at which it is wise just to take the losses and wait/restart the grid, like an ideal max DD limit?

Yes, the results are excellent, so far, and my questions are not complaints, just coming from a little experience. Grid trading systems have very smooth, linear curves, just like fxpapa, until they reach a condition that breaks them (completely). If it opens trades without a StopLoss, it could potentially blow up your account. Fxpapa is obviously closing trades using some other mechanism. We just want to know a little more about it and make sure it is safe enough. Asking how much drawdown the EA is willing to carry is a very fair question for starters, without the author having to reveal any o...

In other words, what is the safety net for this EA to protect profits and prevent blowing the account? I'm asking because it is not using hard SL/TP, which makes traders like me very nervous. Thanks.

Hi, what version and settings of GridMeUp are you using? How did you avoid the catastrophic crash that he suffered the past couple of weeks? Thanks.

Is this what you call the crash? Ouch! Why didn't it bail out at 30-40% DD?

fxpapa, since it does not open trades with hard SL, can you give us some idea how far in the negative it is willing to ride on a given trade? Is it grid? The only EA's I've seen with an equity curve like this are grid, and they always crash eventually. Can you give us some assurance that this isn't going to crash by explaining a little bit of the strategy? Thanks.

Is that floating DD of 300-350 pips total for all open trades or per trade? How many trades could it have potentially have open at once on default settings? Thanks again.

Does smart lots work based on the leverage of the account as well as the balance? I have a U.S. account with 1:50 so I want to adjust. What is the worst floating DD in pips that you've ever seen? Are you worried at all about potential EUR crash which could cause a huge unrecoverable DD?

Does this work with 5-digit brokers? Look at the massive recent dip - definitely martingale, probably grid+martingale. Beware, this system works (search for GridMeUp here at myfxbook) but you have to use very small trade sizes relative to account size, like .01lots per $10K unless you are a gambler, because it inevitably hits deep drawdown and you have to have the equity (and the stomach) to float a huge pip loss. I was trading GridMeUp with .01 per $2K and it hit a drawdown period (martingale multiplies additional trades, against the trend, so digs deep) that cut into my equity by 25% (-5000 ...

Now that I've had a chance to calm down and process my loss, I want to say that odrisb is not misrepresenting this system and $20 is not a gouge for this either. This is coming from someone who lost $5K (25%) and wasn't willing to ride it down to the 40% LossStopOut. I'm only commenting to reinforce to anyone looking at the results, that this system only works over a long period of time with very small trade sizes relative to account size. I was using .09 lots with a $20K account and just couldn't stomach the floating drawdown after -$5000. What can I say, I was hoping for more...

Cursed grid+martingale. This is a foolhardy strategy lacking any real market intelligence! Why is the dang robot selling as the price continues to climb?!And the sentiment is bullish! Shutting this stupid robot off and closing all its trades before it does any more damage (which it looks like it is anxious to do). Please beware anyone who wants to gamble with this strategy, that it is not intelligent - it cannot adjust to major trends. 0.5% risk (about 0.09 lot sizes) cost me a solid 25%!!! of my account balance which used to be $20K. Dang! I will have to rebuild using something smarter.
