Trifix,I tried high volumes, but can't be done at this level. The platform fails. I would need to be Oanda to do what I wanted to. Not possible in retail fx. But yes, I mean in this case I'm using most of my margin and we have maybe 1% NAV change per day. So the portfolio is fairly safe. In that case high volatility would generate good profit without much risk. Last 48 hours been a bit alarming. The speed of changes been accelerating, so there is a fat tail here. Need to drop pairs or change a setting. Cause for alarm.

See, that's why don't get fx. You ask the wrong question. I use almost all of it. To much to be comfortable with. So I need to add money or drop pairs.

Balance can move all over NAV, doesn't matter. Only thing that does matter is the speed of the NAV value change. Margin I can always make a plan on. But if you look very close at the detail you'll see that I'm banking in a market that is going against me over 1% a day. At some point this will turn around.That compounds to over 1000% per annum. No one does that. The second richest guy in the world does 30% per annum with about 50% DD.This account has almost no chance of working. Yet here it is, hanging in there. $100 I take the chance, but imagine I turn it down to say 100% a year. ...

Ah,But you sere Zero, and I been trying to explain this to you for years. It's about the risk. The speed of the NAV change. Why 800% a week doesn't work. A guy like Byte, who doesn't say much on any forum, will tell you that he creates his own pairs and use almost all of his margin. As do I. Simply because of the use of the correct pairs and ratio's of such pairs one can still use your margin, almost all of it, and have relatively low risk, but bank like the clappers. GBPCHF causing trouble here. NAV is still ok, but were not making much because it's all stuck in a dead donkey. Spent most of the day managing that.What I should do is drop the trade sizes, which I can't, we're on minimum. Or add money, or drop the new two pairs. That will most likely lead to volatility in the equity curve, never a desirable trait. Why GBPCHF is sitting around there doing nothing while the rest of the pairs are having 100 - 200 pip swings is a bit of a mystery. But hey, that's fx for you...

I don't really care which way it goes, but been in a 50 pip range for days. That's an issue. I need a certain amount of volatility to make money. 50 pip range just doesn't cut it. If it carries on like this I'll boot it and go to the JPY's...No lazy pairs allowed in this here portfolio.

FXbook verifies that I believe. Only thing locked is open trades and history. Or should be anyway. But it is real and live.I'm actually busy having a draw down - now if gbpchf will do something for a change I'd be able to get my NAV up as well.

Price is high with trading Chikot...How many years it take me? I think anyone who starts trading needs to read Nicholas Taleb's "The Black Swan" first...someone is going to get lucky and get it, but of all those who try maybe 1% will do well out of it. Just a statistical fact.

I took those in the Philippines.Manila is a cesspit, but once you're island hopping it's divine....I met a guy sitting there on that beach at a bar with a gin and tonic in one hand and a laptop in the other, so I says, 'What you doing?' Working he replied....was busy doing a website for a client. Turns out there a whole tribe of people who drift around the world like that, completely free from the normal banality of life...Can find the internet anywhere now days.Pretty much my future this, just tumbleweeding around the world....
