I think forex gets a bad reputation because of all the scammers out there, along with the influencers that trick newbies into signing up with little knowledge and blowing their account.

Offshore brokers tend to offer the highest leverage in many cases. I would recommend the broker I use as theirs goes up to 1:500, but they only offer MT4 and I saw you mention that you're interested in MT5.

I think you need one for the other to work, which makes them equally important. If you have a good method but don't stick to it, you'll lose money. If you are a well-disciplined trader with no strategy, you'll also lose money.

Some things scream scammer right away when looking at a particular broker. A website that doesn’t include important info (like costs or deposit methods), hard to reach customer support, a lack of user reviews online, and hidden fees located under their terms & conditions are a few of the first ones I look for. A huge bonus offer can sometimes suggest that the broker is trying to hide unfavorable terms as well, so always look into those.

Agree that it depends on the person. Some may catch on quickly and others may take more time, but I think a lot of people could be good traders if they spend enough time and take in enough information.

There are risks and rewards to trading. Downside is that you don’t get a guaranteed paycheck for the hours you put in and can lose, whereas a regular job is guaranteed money. Still, it was worth it to me because I get to stay home with my kids, go to the baseball games, etc. without having to ask permission from a boss.

I started with a small amount because I wasn’t 100% confident and didn’t want to lose a large amount of money if it turned out that I wasn’t good at it. Later on, I deposited a lot more once I saw good results.

The whole get rich quick idea tricks a lot of people. The traders that are actually doing a good job probably still feel like they’re failing if they’re giving themselves a goal to make x amount of money by a certain date.
