New York Manufacturing Index Edges Slightly Lower In July

(RTTNews) - A report released by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York on Monday showed regional manufacturing activity contracted at a slightly faster rate in the month of July.
The New York Fed said its general business conditions index edged down to a negative 6.6 in July from a negative 6.0 in June, with a negative reading indicating contraction. Economists had expected the index to come in unchanged.
Looking ahead, the New York fed said firms remained fairly optimistic conditions would improve in the months ahead, although the index for future business conditions fell to 25.8 in July from 30.1 in June.

U.S. Pending Home Sales Spike Much More Than Expected In September
Pending home sales in the U.S. spiked by much more than expected in the month of September, according to a report released by the National Association of Realtors on Wednesday. NAR said its pending home sales index soared by 7.4 percent to 75.8 in September after climbing by 0.6 percent to 70.6 in August. Economists had expected pending home sales to jump by 1.1 percent.

The Conference Board said its consumer confidence index surged to 108.7 in October after tumbling to a revised 99.2 in September. Economists had expected the consumer confidence index to inch up to 99.1 from the 98.7 originally reported for the previous month.

U.S. Consumer Sentiment Unexpectedly Improves To Six-Month High In October
Consumer sentiment in the U.S. unexpectedly improved in the month of October, according to revised data released by the University of Michigan on Friday. The University of Michigan said its consumer sentiment index for October was upwardly revised to 70.5 from a preliminary reading of 68.9. Economists had expected the index to be upwardly revised slightly to 69.0.
