MetaQuotes stops developing MT4

That's usually where everyone falls out the bus, learn to code first, then learn the language through reference documentation. You can learn MQL4 and convert to MQL5 (more a dialect difference than a full language) or you can learn MQL5 first and get the syntax right from the start. If you learn the fundamentals of coding then any language is faster to learn and adapt (learn variable types, loop types, arrays, etc). Every coding language is close to another fundamentally. Difficulty of the language is more to do with the level (low level vs high level - eg. C++ vs Java, C++ needs you to man...

Try this for size... https://www.mql5.com/en/docs/migrationit's really that simple to convert from 4 to 5, that's really all there is to it. Best to ask around for more opinions than putting my opinion against another (I don't much appreciate people telling me I'm wrong by simply throwing one article in my face about someone else's opinion online - is he right because he has an article with bad grammar online, or is he right, period. I will however concede defeat if proven beyond an opinion piece ;-)). Also, that article was written in 2012... a lot has changed since.

Who said that? they talking rubbish. You can take MQL4, change a few naming conventions and it will work in MT5. I would suggest starting with MQL5 so that you don't carry MQL4 habits over to MQL5, and MQL5 has a lot more to offer in functionality.
BREXIT won't happen until 2019.

The UK was a powerhouse before EU so I'm pretty confident they will pull this off. It's not "when" that matters, its "how". There are two options, exit at once and reform as fast as possible or reform in increments till a final exit. Farage is looking for the quick exit, and I somewhat agree, it's not like they have no experience in being an independent country [Kingdom]. The longer it drags out the more uncertainty and politics would creep in.It would be easier and quicker to deal with the changes and adapt as they happen after an abrupt exit than to politicize...
DEMO ACCOUNT vs LIVE ACCOUNT

I'm guessing it has to do with slippage and out of price quotes, hardly ever replicated in demo. Also some brokers will have higher specs on real trading servers (performance), so the likelihood of disconnections are more on demo. Demo is a testing and development environment and real is production, period. How many real trades have not executed or have been rolled back and cancelled due to volatile price movement? this simply does not happen on demo accounts, all trades are executed if connection persists, even if there realistically is a quote void (no opposite positions).

In a sense I am pleased, with the last updates it feels like they were heading into a bloatware situation with MT4.I just hope that they listen to traders on MT5 development (haven't used it in years, so not sure of current status), but things like undockable windows for multi-screens, custom time frames, more order types (like OCO), built in risk management options etc. have been requested by the community for years and have fallen on deaf ears... I'm hopeful MT5 will bridge that gap in future.

I think it's a reference to rebates on trades, some brokers provide credit or cash rebates on every round lot traded for example usually through a loyalty program.

Totally agree. Too much demo trading gives a false sense of confidence and security, when you put your own money down (even just a few bucks) you enter into reality and leave the perception behind. Demo is there to learn the platform, learn to code and test EA's, test strategies, get a feel for indicators, get a feel for market reaction, sentiment, events, news and charts... it's not there to teach you success and failure in trading because it doesn't affect you either way.I compare it to driving a vehicle on a dirt / farm road (demo) vs. driving in traffic on tarmac (real)... you ...

Other than Mexico having a really bad time (USDMXN).As investors / traders we have to ensure accurate information (check statements, double check, never take information at face value). In the beginning of the race if you asked me I was pro-Clinton win, half way through things weren't adding up, at the end I became pro-Trump win (my opinion of outcome - not my voting opinion as I'm not a US citizen, if anything I would have looked for Trey Gowdy and not find him on the ballot... lol!) {UNCONFIRMED report that Trey Gowdy may be chosen as Attorney General btw, if you havn't heard yet...

Trump is not the scary monster he was made out to be. Sorry Magixs, not even going to bother viewing the clip, I have scoured many sources to get the truth and facts over propaganda and have seen too many cut and past clips that make Trump seem evil, but when i find the full speeches he has given, the context of it as he speaks, the clips are clearly out of context. Spent an hour explaining paraboles and hyperboles to people without success (Clinton is quite literally fused in their brain, and facts are "not true" and then they refer to CNN)... I give up.Your comment is also inaccura...

Trump specifically said he would cut regulations that large companies can afford to work with / around, but which squeeze out new and small companies that cannot afford such measures. Many regulations worldwide are there to make the wealthy richer and drive out small competition.A good example in my country is the most recent regulation that was changed, which was a limit on the minimum capital you could lend before having to register as a financial services provider. This was capped at ZAR 500k, so for example, if you are an individual that lends money on P2P loans, you can lend up to ZAR 500...

Lower Tax and less regulation is a growth driver which would stimulate the economy (create more jobs and more capex expenditure for growth). It won't necessarily drive earnings (eg, less tax won't mean you have a higher salary (income), it means you have more of it available to you), and most companies will use that extra net profit on capital expenditure which in turn creates jobs."expand the issues" is vague, could you elaborate on what issues would be expanded on?

Other than US interest rate I don't think there is anything else for us this year. Trump will start Jan 20th (sworn in), and will most likely only get the ball rolling from March. Inflation is lagging, so a Trump impact won't be seen till much later, if it is a concern for you, keep focus on Obama for next inflation figures, not Trump.

My medium to long term view yes, I'm looking at least for March 2017, short term negative view on Trump win due to sentiment but as the cog starts to turn on policy implementation I see a rise. Erratic conditions immediate term.

Same here, every time I open a manual trade I end up kicking myself. The only manual thing one should do is "fund account".

I have 30 pairs open for risk management (not all with trades open, trades will open on other pairs only to balance positions)Short GBPXXX (actually almost all trades are short)Long AUDXXXI have changed my strategy to long term, low risk (March 2017 at least). I think markets will be erratic, USD positive short term for Clinton win purely on sentiment, negative Trump win. Long term I think the tide will change, positive Trump win, negative Clinton win. From a third perspective, I see Trump plan energize growth, reduce deficit (though military spending lingers as uncertainty), increased product...

Keep trades low and margin levels high (+1000%) and I think all will be ok. If margin level is bellow this rather fund account as priority over opening new trades (don't over-trade).

I also believe this to be the case, first year hype on promises from new president strengthens the currency and the following 3 years depend on delivery of those promises. I also believe, It's ingrained in successful businessmen to beat the bush and deliver and for politicians to beat around the bush and fall short on delivery (this is a proven fact). So regardless of any accusations (a lot of which is / was childish bickering), I think overall Trump would have a greater positive impact on the market based on delivery alone, and Hillary will stifle any progress by conforming to political a...
