the reason why stat arb created is the facts you are sayingsliappage + cost are making conventional arbtirage profitless or loss.but when you find 2 coroloated instrument, that means those can create a gap ( where trader can enter ) then when gap is closed trader makes profit. and if trade goes against means if instruments relation broken and moving away then loss will be miniaml.that can ebdone but calculation needed.

what is statistical arbitrage:1 - trader look for highly corolated instruments for mean time2 - then trader aplly basic arbitrage rules to instruments. wait for a gap and then hope it closes back.does this work. yes. when correctly coded which is very complicated it works.walkerPS : google and you will find too m any pdf documents to read.

until this gentelmen forcing me, it was not in my mind.
