Mexico Interest Rate Decision
The Bank of Mexico (Banco de Mexico) is in charge of making interest rate decisions in Mexico. In place of the level of commercial banks' current account balances at the central bank, the overnight interbank rate (Tasa de Fondo Bancario) has been adopted as an operating aim by the Banco de Mexico since January 2008.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the MXN while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the MXN.
