@theHand That's the irony of Forex trading, it can make you very rich over 5 years or more, AND can make you broke within 24 hours. I think those with the mindset of becoming rich never will, where those who, with experience, accept that they most likely won't and aim for a steady return regardless if it's a few percent a year will succeed in profitability and stand a chance at becoming rich (emphasis on 'chance').

Hey Kevin,I see 3 mistakes in this one sentence already:"I took what money I was saving for our new furnace, and invested $500 with Pro Binary Georges Robot."1. Ive been trading 4 years now, first 2 I blamed the market, it seemed as soon as I placed an order it went against me, so I compensate... which turned into over-compensated... which turned to bust.Year 3 I gathered what I learned, changed my strategy, I started making profit, quite a lot of profit, got cocky, over traded and went bust again a few times.This year I went back and looked at what I did wrong, now I'm in slow recovery. Any monetary policy change will move the market... how much is anyone's guess. Those who had short positions claimed they "saw it coming" - hogwash, just lucky! and those who were long saw their rear-ends. Best is just to be prepared for the worst.

I would suggest fine tuning it for smaller accounts. Investors won't want to put their money down to test your EA... they want you to show them your own real account test results. And they won't look at $10/$1000 (1% return, 99% risk) unless you give them a guarantee, and that usually means something like putting your own assets down as security hedged against the risk (you would stand to lose 99% of your assets because that's the risk you provide them, they will not invest with more than 99% value of your assets... worth the risk?

I do both. Forex as short term trading and stocks (shares) as long term investing with a concentration on quarterly dividend income.

How did you place a stop on a buy order 3 points higher than your open price? (5 lot trade).http://www.myfxbook.com/files/xgavinc/Untitled.pngA news event occurred, brief swap gap widened and you were closed out. Read the fine print of the T&C's, no broker guarantees closing orders at / near SL levels.My suggestion, reduce you trade size and increase your stop levels in future to prevent this from happening (it can and will happen again).

I code, test and tune my own EA's so they are not available anywhere. I have tried various commercial and free EA's but they frustrated me because I didn't know what was going on in the background. Sometimes they made insane opening positions with lot sizes I thought were too risky, even though risk setting was minimum... just couldn't trust what I didn't understand so taught myself MQL4. Will eventually open a Meta 5 account and then try out MQL5, but with the restrictions from brokers currently on Meta 5 accounts, I'm not in a hurry to upgrade just yet.I do have my la...
