Okay....if most people are buying....and MDP has opened a sell stop....then there is no retracement, since MOST people are buying. Therefore, no MDP trades are never opened. Do you realize you are contradicting yourself? There must be more sellers for the price to reverse from an upward spike. Ergo, a lack of buyers....or low liquidity on the buyer's side.I did check into the OBFX and you are correct about it displaying in millions. I had the impression it was displaying in lots and nobody ever told me otherwise, so mistake duly noted.

Are you factoring in that there are probably a multitude of people trying to trade MDP. I know from talking to certain brokers that they have many hundred's of traders using MDP. And most of these people are not using micro lots. So using the knowledge that I have from bank orderflow, at any given moment, the amount of available liquidity against the trend at any given price within a 1 pip range has shown to be between 5 and 25 lots. So....lets assume that no one other than MDP trades are placing trades at that moment. At MDP's stop level (and they are all nearly identical) let's s...

You need to read it over a few more times then because your understanding of it isn't complete. As for the typing, I type it all in manually. The reason I am understand what is going on with this system is because I have traded bank order flow. You must understand how the market works with that type of system to trade it. Anyway....Britt understands it. Maybe she would be willing to offer up a different version of the same explanation.

Okay, I see you confusion. Read this over, Tharaka, and let me know if this makes more sense. We assume market just had a big upward spike that wold trigger MDP to place sell stops. This upward spike would have been because there was way more buyers than sellers, or the buyers were buying more than the sellers. So...near the end of the spike, MDP has a sell stop order in hopes that the buyers will run out of momentum and the sellers will out weight the buyers. So we suddenly have a bunch of people selling and there are more people selling than there are buying to the point that there aren'...

You gotta read and understand the entire post. Low liquidity in one direction. When the market is moving far and fast in one direction, there is low liquidity in the opposing direction. Market dynamics 101.

Grrrrrrr........ Alright. Since everyone wants to give complex answers and try to sound smart.......To start, ForexPro is correct that there are NO true ECN MT4 brokers. The orders all must pass through the mt4 bridge to get to the market. The execution speed slowdown in terms of what the mt4 user does is negligible. We are talking about a slow down of a few milliseconds. If you were trading HFT systems on a big mainframe the slow down would be astronomical. Will Schaarrand is correct that Slippage is due to insufficient liquidity, and in most cases, slippage is not an issue. Now that we have t...

IF they are true ECN, then yes, they cannot take the opposite side of your trades. That is why I recommend everyone reading their client agreement in great detail. A lot of brokers are not true ECN. The match orders internally before sending positions out to the market. Those positions can be matched with whoever they decide to match with. It has been proven time and time again that brokers do act against their own clients. How to tell if you are trading on a true ECN? You should be getting worse than expected slippage for most of your orders.

It should be very obvious at this point that brokers have begun slowing down their order execution speed to defeat MDP. Why, I do not know. In most cases the broker supposedly makes more money by having lots of trades from their clients. The bigger the client's wins, the bigger the account, and therefore, the bigger the trades and as such...bigger commissions for the broker. My recommendation...read you client agreements VERY thoroughly and make sure it doesn't say anywhere that they will take the opposite side of your trades. Remember, they are only about making money. How easy would ...

Don't go live with MDP on FinFX. The slippage is terrible and I don't know of anyone (me included) that has not gotten burned by MDP when trading on FinFX.

This is a fault of MDP. It appears that the decision whether or not to use the stop orders is hard coded and the true/false settings are just for show.

About the DDOS attacks on brokers.... hackers are aware that there is big money being made by these brokers. It is apparently considered a good tactic to attack them relentlessly until they pay to stop the attacks. FXOpen had to deal with this and i was told by one of their admin that the hackers did it every month and demanded $10,000 to stop the attacks. The only way to make it stop is to pay, or beef up the systems to the point that a DDOS attack cannot bring it down....which is expensive.

Very good advice. Keep your lot size low enough that it is easy to get it filled with minimal slippage. Note: There are some brokers that can fill any lot size (exception for very large sizes) just as easily as any other....SOME brokers fill 1 lot and larger slightly faster than the small position sizes. You will need to inquire with your broker as to how they fill the positions. FOR INSTANCE--- FXOpen's ECN does STP aggregation for anything smaller than 1 lot. Anything 1 lot and higher gets sent straight to market without aggregation. It is a few milliseconds, but every bit makes a diff...

I have no idea why. The spread was 2.0 so it should have traded, but it never happened.

Pretty sucky day today for FGB. 14 trades -93 pips. Surprising???? No. The market was super choppy. The losses were due to 4 big losing positions. -210 pips for all 4 losing positions. All losing positions were shorts.
