I'm glad to see that FBG defenders like Steve finally throw in the towel and call it quits, citing the draw down as too horrific and the author's inability to update the results or comment on the recent draw down. BTW, the EA has not updated on myfxbook since May 27. Reason: perhaps the author has discontinued the update for fear of revealing any more of horrific DD. I wouldn't trust this syptrader account. Notice that the lots amount is locked. Why would someone lock their lot amount from being made public? A good reason I can come up with for locking a lot amount is that you don't want someone to find out that your system is using a martingale lot sizing technique.

I can see the draw down is getting uglier still than last time I noticed it at 40%. Now it is close to 50%. I see that most people talking here have given up on this EA, calling it dead. I think that is the right move. Some few are hanging on through the torture and pain, even halving the lot sizing to die a little more slowly. I remember when EURUSD at 4-5 points was considered "competitive" in early 2000s when only a few retail brokers were operating. FXGeers, your mention of excellent spread (35-40 points) on Pepperstone's XAUUSD made me look closer at a real Edge account I had recently opened. You are right. The spreads are excellent and I would say that during their active session (6:30am to 1:00 PM PST), the spreads are between 25-35 points. Pepperstone spreads of 25-40 is very hard to beat. Update on my use of Varengold; I see that their average spread is more in the line of 70 points, not the 30 points I had thought. I too want an excellent spread broker on XAUUSD, something much less than 70 points. It seems to me that if you look at myfxbook's own spread chart, and sort by XAUUSD, there are two brokers that stand out as having the best spread, Hotforex and thinkforex. Vontogr already mentioned that thinkforex is a a broker with 20 point spread, and I see it also has a good spread on XAGUSD.

Hi VabRus, thanks for warning us about the horrible slippage with Armada, which is the sneaky element that greedy brokers who pretend to have great spreads do to eat off their clients. I just got an account with Varangold and I see that XAUUSD has 30 points, which is much better than most. I've not traded with them as of yet on that instrument, but intend to soon and will let you know how the execution speed goes.

Hey, if you get your refund, at least you'll get some money back. Hopefully you didn't put too much money in the real account for this martingale. Martingales can be fun, but don't pay money for them (there are plenty good ones out there that are free), and test them for a long time on demo accounts to the point you are comfortable with them. Then when you are, only trade them on small real accounts, such as nano accounts, so you are not losing much when they blow up.

I hear your pain bro. You might be about to lose your account plus the $240 you paid for this EA. I contend that this EA is not so much a grid as a martingale (lot sizing on current open GU positions is 0.67, 1.12, 1.86, 3.10), which is far more dangerous than a grid. The best of the GU grids out there, like GridMeUp, are being beaten up real bad by having long trades when the GU currently seems to be trending south, but the martingales are facing near complete destruction. May 10 was good for this EA, a few successful short trades on the recent EU bearish move....but I wouldn't get my hopes up. The EU may resume its sideways behavior once again and cut up this EA. This 42% draw down we've had thus far is the biggest in the forward life of the account, and I believe it represents too much heat for too many its loyal followers. EA adherents usually bail on EAs that exceed the 25% draw down mark, and while many have no doubt stuck with this EA because of its historical record, the 40% DD figure is a new level of pain that has probably forced a sizable percentage of its loyal base to disable it.

I have 10K in a forex.com/Uk account that I can try with either system. Your X-1 scalper system looks interesting, and since it trades EURUSD and USDJPY, you don't need a special ECN broker to trade it, do you? I believe at forex.com/uk, the average spread on EURUSD and USDJPY is 2 pips. Perhaps you need a broker with a a tighter spread, I don't know, but I can arrange to open up with another broker if that is more desirable.
