Hey Professor, are you still trading with IBFX and still demoing on FinFX? I am hunting for a good broker because it appears that FXOpen can't handle the MDP. The order open time is 1200+ ms and today they just killed the trade servers as the MDP got the trade signals. They kept it offline just long enough that MDP couldn't place any trades.

Poor customer support is something you will have to get used to with the FGB. It takes them a while to get anything done. They do eventually get around to it, but you have to be very patient. Or a hacker. Take your pick.

Well....it looks like I may be forced to find a new broker. I have had 2 possible trade opportunities pop up today and BOTH times my broker disconnected before the trades could be placed. AND it wasn't my internet connection. The disconnect happened on the mt4s at my home and on my VPS. The broker is FXOpen.

Due to the way MDP trades, the more people that try to trade it, the harder it will be to turn a profit. We are all receiving the exact same trade signal, so everyone is attempting to open positions in the same direction. The MDP trades in highly volatile markets, which is generally lower volume. So therefore, this basically guarantees that a lot of people will experience bad slippage or not get their positions filled at all. You gotta remember, the MDP is NOT a trend follower. I did not have any trouble with it. I can verify that it does not require the basic edition. I know because i got a refund on the basic edition and still run the power source edition.

Out of curiosity i ran an extended back test with tick data from dukascopy. The results were basically the same over the long haul.

The problem, and it will exist on every broker, is that this EA takes trades with short targets....and it opens trades during highly volatile periods. This means that slippage is usually far worse than normal and therefore...extreme speed of the VPS, connection from VPS to server, and the order server itself. Several people have talked to their brokers about the problem and the answers they are getting back are....the servers cannot handle the massive influx of orders. No, they are serious. The settings are most likely default. The problem is....it is a demo account and therefore not subject to slippage. You get perfect fills all the time every time. The problem is getting the orders opened quickly enough and then getting them closed quickly enough......without adverse slippage.

The MDP account is a demo. trade executions are fairly well perfect conditions. It is not possible to get as good of results on a real account.

The ping from your VPS to broker can be done y the VPS host, they just need the IP address.

FXDownunder, I recommend going and purchasing the power source edition and then requesting a refund for the basic edition. The power source has proven to be more profitable even though the logic is supposed to be identical.

I looked at it. it looks to use a grid or martingale type system. I won't use an EA that uses either of these.

I had 8 small loses on FXOpen ECN. I am slightly annoyed about it too. All the positions reached +7 to +15 pips at some point before falling back.

I can give you a few. The Kangaroo EA (I have been trading it live since the end of January2011). The Wall Street Forex EA used to be reliable, but has been officially removed from my live accounts recently. The Forex Growth bot if you know how to tweak it properly and can handle extended periods of drawdown. Hey Professor53, with you FinFX account, was the demo an ECN demo, and were you trading it from a VPS? Trying to get an idea of latency times, etc. because I am possibly getting ready to look for a new broker and FinFX is on my list of possibilities.
