Good points Austin! You are right, spreads are a no joke in exotic pairs. I stick to them only when I see a clear setup. What is your favorite exotic pair to trade with?

It is very important to match the target with the personality of the currency pair. Let’s not forget USDCAD or AUDUSD. The first one requires some patience and the other one can be very aggressive during the Asian session. I try not to force and let the pair show me what it has got!

11th Dec Update:AUD is expected to be traded between the range of 0.6400 and 0.6480 for the short term.In the coming 2-3 weeks, AUD is expected to be in a stable range of 0.6375 to 0.6500.Late last week, AUD dropped to 0.6373 (because of RBA’s interest rates discussion), and if it touches the same price again, the currency is expected to move to the downside. It is expected that this week AUD will be highly volatile since Australia’s employment data is due on Thursday.

Both the platforms depend on the brokers and liquidity providers but I believe MT5 has some technical advantages. It offers more timeframes, advanced order types, and a better strategy for backtesting. This might make MT5 faster for some traders but that also depends on how they use the platform.

Growing $10 to $500 is a bold goal, but it is completely doable with patience, strategy, and risk management. You should focus on risking as low as 1-2% per trade that is $0.10 - $0.20 and try trading with brokers who offer micro lots like forex or crypto. For tracking and planning trades, you can always go for MT5 or TradingView to analyze and plan your trades.

Hey FrancV, here are some more things you can add to your list - 1. Don’t ignore risk management, put up stop-loss orders and protect your capital.2. Don’t overtrade, only to find yourself emotionally drained.3. Don’t copy others’ trades blindly, it may not work out the same way it worked for them.

I totally agree with this. Leverage can either be a trader’s best friend or worst enemy, depending on how you use it. Yes, starting at a small leverage is good advice and once traders get to understand how leverage works, the risks, and positions, they can increase the leverage later.

You’re right. Sentiment tools are great for analyzing the general mood of the market but here, timing is everything. Waiting for confirmation using stop-entry orders is a good tactic.

Basically this. Without the right mindset, even the best of strategies don’t work out. A trader should stay disciplined, stick to the plan, and contain emotions (during losses). Apart from technicality, trading is also about the mental game.

I have not yet come across a strategy that fails during backtesting because usually it is adjusted to fit the historical data. But I have realized that if a strategy worked during backtesting, that does not guarantee that it would work on live trading. In real-time markets, anything can happen that may lead to price fluctuations like unexpected news, change in market conditions, or even slippage. This can mess up any backtested strategy.
