Broker choice

Go to Reviews -> BrokersMake sure to read the broker trading T's & C's when you go live, that is what catches most people when withdrawing funds (eg. scalping at broker where scalping is not allowed, arbitrage trading where it's not allowed, etc)... the platform allows it, but when it comes time to withdraw an audit on your account is done first, if you breached the terms (even once), it's an uphill battle.

I trade H4, it's a good balance for me.It all depends on your trading style and plan, if you have a 9-5 job I would not recommend a time frame lower than H4, if you sit in front of the screen all day, no more than H1. If you manually trade you should be using all (or most) time frames to make trading determinations (at least 3 comparisons, like H1, H4 and D1 for example). Some traders only use MN, but I consider them to be investors, not traders. You cannot scalp a H1 and you cannot swing or position trade a M1Hope that helps you decide.

This is old news, and actually a non-event. Market "recovered" quickly, a 1% move on equities is a daily occurrence (nothing has to even happen for 1% moves), so attributing it as a "Trump" event, in my opinion and perspective, more of the same propaganda. I'm not saying his comment had zero impact on GM shares, I'm saying the hype surrounding it is ridiculous. As @mlawson71 stated, facts will always supersede sentiment, if the facts don't line up with sentiment the market goes back to where it was.Implementation of policy will cause the trends, not twitter comme...
Are Bots any good for a Newbie trader?

Depends what you mean by "Bots".If you mean Expert Advisor, sure, if you know the inner workings of it and don't interfere with it (throw in manual trades that will mess up the logic of the EA). By inner workings I mean the rules it follows, under what condition it opens and closes orders, etc. Risk and money management (MM) built into the Expert Advisor is essential. You will also need to know what the parameters should be (read the documentation carefully), if you don't understand the documentation (terms, settings, etc) then you need to do research and learn trading first ...

Spreads may be due to reduced trading (holiday period) and leverage may still be Italy fears... I have none of these changes on my platform (Italy referendum leverage was reversed already - with note that they will monitor situation).

For me the result was unsurprising (expect the unexpected - Brexit, Trump... etc.). The volatility was a slight surprise being less than expected thanks to the ECB (maybe a good thing for accounts, but not for profit seekers).

Smaller Banks = More Banks = More Jobs = More Competition = Lower Fees (Remember the days you walked into the bank and they greeted you by name? - 1 monthly fee for a basket of day to day services and per transaction for personalized services)Large banks can have branches operate independently of the group (if the branch fails it doesn't take the whole bank down, the unprofitable branch closes) - no more "too big to fail" as all failed branches would close before the deck of cards fall.

Just barging in to this (saw "bank" and had to comment) 😁I think there should be no such thing as "too big to fail", the account holders should be bailed out and the bank closed. This would provide new opportunities for small banks to compete with larger banks, stimulate new technologies, improve service, and all banks will start to take responsible action to prevent closure. There should be absolutely no reason why a positive balance in your account should not be there (limited daily withdrawal usually occurs), banks should not use client balances to make loans or ...

Prepare your account/s for the Italian Constitutional Referendum this weekend. Increased volatility and decreased liquidity expected for EUR pairs, Gold, Silver, commodities, CFD's and Indices. Funding account/s should take precedence over opening new orders to protect your account from margin call. Sunday/Monday open may or may not surprise traders, be prepared if you plan to have open positions over the weekend.

@VickyJones Just to clarify though... if "risk out" refers to your order cleared straight through, then the broker would not take an opposite position. Chances of this are small though. You authorize your broker to act as clearing agent for your orders, why?, because unless you place large orders (a standard lot at once for example), the bank would not accept your little order of 0.01 mini / micro lots, etc. It's more effective to match you with in-house fellow traders, traders at other brokers or liquidity providers that accept small lots, if they cant match you with those avenu...

Well, for it to be a hedge on "risking out", they would have to take the opposite side, then hedge that (new trade) with banks, LP's, and / or other brokers (so you end up with [1.client-broker], [2.broker-bank] trades). If it goes out directly (after spread or commission is taken), then the only risk to the broker is the client's account, not the trade (client unable to cover margin).

I agree with kieran. But Fibonacci should not be used as the only indicator (it's not meant to be used alone - a strength indicator can be used to determine if it will break support and resistance levels for example). Always go with last highest high and last lowest low. It should also only be used on timeframes 4H and above (your 1D is good). It may actually be due for a move up at 1.04500, strong move through that may indicate further downward trend.

That's only for example if an institutional trader does something wrong and management were not aware of it, they cannot be held liable, where in previous rules if this happened the company had to pay a huge fine even though management were not aware of that traders actions. If proven that the were aware of the actions and did nothing they will be liable. Makes sense, imagine being retrenched because Johnny did something wrong and the company had to close down because of a large fine, that's unfair to the company and ethical staff.I don't have much confidence in regulators though, ...

I think generally (with all the stink of price manipulation, misrepresented quotes, etc. in the past, and large fines) even brokers with that license will use that as a last resort, only to provide liquidity where there is none.My point in the beginning was that an opposite side of the trade is not a hedge (would be the same as saying that every trade you make is a hedge). They would have to make another opposite trade of the same pair or offset that trade with something else (Gold being popular). Until you make another correlated trade, it's not a hedged trade.

The FCA only regulates fairness to the customer, transparency of a broker, ensure correct communication to customer, adhere to contracts with customer, manage risk appropriately and provide training or refuse service to customers based on a risk assessment. It does not state anywhere they cannot take the opposite trade (as long as they adhere to FCA guidelines) - So if it says in their T&C's, "Be aware that we may act as counter party to your trades" and you sign up anyway and agree to the T&C's, and the broker has the required license, then that's good enough for...

No, not a hedge. The broker takes the opposite trade (that's not a hedge, it's a trade). Successful traders or larger trades are pushed through to liquidity providers, other brokers, banks or other traders within the same brokerage. Very large trades can be broken up into smaller lots and filled among some or all avenues. A hedge would be if they took the opposite trade and opened another trade to hedge that opposite trade.

Another tip I can give, which I learned a bit late and can kick myself for not doing it earlier...If you do code and test on a live account (as I do)... where there is an action (like open buy or open sell order, or close orders), replace that part with a print that will show up in the expert journal, eg.if (open[1] > open[0]) {print ("Buy order opened on EURUSD"); // Replace with OrderSend (Symbol(),OP_BUY...) when happy with result}It helps knowing what the EA intends to do before doing it live, and keeps the broker from calling you after you opened 50+ trades in 1 second in an ...
