Caesar 400% EURUSD
in
Tirdzniecības sistēmas
Oct 05, 2014 at 16:57
This DD may have been in the cards assuming the strategy was trading said high impact news, but given how Caesar operates, I doubt this would be the case if it didn't trade such news except over an extraordinarily long period of time. If Caesar does not trade high impact news, it's my view that in the long run, the loss of profits as a result of this discretion would not exceed the loss from DD it'd otherwise experience assuming it did engage in such trading (a backtest would confirm this by looking at the long term performance of the system without any kind of news filter). Overal...

As a new subscriber I was not aware that the strategy traded NFP and other major news events (yes I should have done my homework here, granted). As I mentioned, I'm astonished that the NFP was traded. That said, that Caesar trades high impact news when it shouldn't is a legitimate criticism regardless; this is a grid based system, therefore, in the long run, high impact news is _lethal_ to it, full stop. No grid should be trading high impact news no matter how well designed; it is going to kill your system sooner rather than later; this is what black swans are made of.Further, 0.01 lots...

Yeah, I absolutely agree that the one thing Caesar really needs is a news filter with respect to high impact news and events like Federal Reserve speeches/minutes; no doubt and no question. There should be _no_ positions open for a span of 4 or so hours before to 24 hours after a major news item release; any positions that were previously opened heading into this span of time should be closed.

Just thought I'd call for calm guys; personally I'm about 5k in the hole with this and I'm still (relatively) chill.I don't think anyone is blaming Tomas for their own over-leveraging, for those of us that have done so. However, I have stated and do agree with the view that Caesar should never have been traded before, during or after the NFP or any high impact news releases; these are classic grid killers, straight up, and trading the news via a grid strategy is the definition of playing with fire. There is no better way to run a grid into the ground than to trade news, especia...

I trust in Caesar and Tomas, though I am left to wonder why Caesar was permitted to trade shortly before, during and shortly after three major EURUSD news releases (Nonfarm Payrolls, Trade Balance and Unemployment). These are traditional EURUSD grid/martingale killers.Perhaps more discretion should be exercised in the future with respect to major news items?

So is this essentially a grid strategy?

Hi Hans,I would recommend getting in touch with Nick at the Forex Signals forum here:http://www.forexsignals.com/forum/forumdisplay.php/7-Nick-s-Forex-JourneyTo my knowledge he's set up, or helped set up several MAMs at IC Markets and is in close contact with the traders that work with him, so I expect he would have some valuable feedback for you.

I have to admit, I held my judgement on this, but after seeing your website when it was pointed out to me, I kind of agree with cyberryder and Jon; there certainly seems to be an attempt to distinguish yourself from other IBs with a false veneer of exceptionality/exclusivity and official endorsement. It's not that you're trying to impersonate an employee of IC Markets, it's the misleading way you are representing your association with this broker. Also did you get permission from Nick and Jeff to advertise their MAM, and associate your affiliate ID with it?EDIT: Apparently you did n...

Between the new server/hardware and MT4 Build 625, I've noticed execution times have been reduced to less than 40 ms.

Apologies!I'm certainly interested, but I'd definitely like to see a 6+ year backtest for an EA implementation of the trading strategy (it seems fairly deterministic) as a proof of concept, so I know that this can be profitable over the long term.

Do you have a 6+ year Dukascopy tick data backtest available for this EA?

Yeah, wiring fees are never pleasant, but as long as my withdrawals are fast and reliable as opposed to being an Instaforex-level nightmare of delays and excuses, I'm a happy trader. That all said, a lot can happen in a year as broker quality goes, so if Pepperstone has indeed improved since my testing, it wouldn't surprise me! Glad to hear it's working out for you two.

Well that's the thing, you only fund a couple hundred or grand at most when you're testing out a broker before you take the plunge, so you don't have a lot of your money on the line.Personally my experience has been an inversion of what you report with regards to slippage, and I did give Pepperstone months to prove itself. Granted, this was a little more than a year ago and things may have changed since, but during that time I was definitely not impressed. Further, if reviews about Pepperstone on the Forex Peace Army site are any indicator, my findings were apparently accurate.

I have to admit, I find it difficult to see how a single day of trading can really give you an accurate and comprehensive gauge of a broker's relative performance; closing after such a short period of time definitely strikes me as being premature. I normally allow for months of live trading with a small account before I draw conclusions; when it comes to a one day evaluation, short term, transient elements can totally distort your appraisal of a broker's trading environment.

In my experience, I've received my money no later than 72 business hours using international bank transfers, and often within 48 business hours; others in this thread and elsewhere can also attest to similarly prompt withdrawals.

@ mmnet: Clients can withdrawal amounts greater than their initial deposit via Neteller, but this is subject to ICM's discretion per anti-money laundering guidelines and rolling reserves featured by most payment gateways/processors like Neteller that can prevent brokers from executing a withdrawal. When clients want to withdraw an amount far greater than their initial deposit this can definitely factor in.

On average, they're better, and in particular for EURUSD; you can check this out yourself via the Broker's section which features all of these metrics in detail.Keep in mind that you can reduce commissions or spread further depending on your account type (Pro or Standard) by opening an account with an IB.

I suggested to Angus that IC Markets set up some kind of broker issued debit card for the sake of convenience in withdrawing/spending profits that could be loaded with a transfer from your trading accounts which either had adequate margin or no open positions. That said, I'm not sure if this would actually be possible under ASIC regulations.

If you're using a Standard account, it says in black and white per the characteristics of that account type that 1 pip (not 0.1 pips; each unit in the fifth decimal place per say EURUSD is equivalent to 0.1 of a pip) is added to the spread, in lieu of commission. What is the problem exactly? If you want naked spreads get an ECN account instead; you'll pay commissions but your spreads won't be incremented by 1 pip. The bottom line is that ICM has to get some kind of compensation from executing and routing your transactions as your broker, whether it be in the form of commissions, or s...
