Best Broker for a Newbie

TheLastBear, you might be right about the bonuses, I simply always looked at it as a cheap gimmick used by bucket shops to lure newbies. As to the customer service and security of funds, I agree very much, although the other begs the question - how do you determine the security of funds?
Do you guys participate in Trading Challenges?

I like participating in trading challenges as those help to relieve stress caused in real-world trading 😀. Just make sure you don't take the bet-the-farm-approach too much to heart once the contests end... 😁
Manual trading or EA??

A non discretionary trading system with explicit entry and exit rules would be best traded automatically as that would provide trading results exactly according to the trading system whereas manual trading can affect it (time on screen limit, human errors, emotional factor). However, if the trading system is discretionary, or if it is adapted to the market mode (which is again decided by the trader), then obviously it would be best to trade it manually. In any case, there is no 'better' way to trade as each trader has its own trading system and performance. I would even suggest having bo...

I don't think there is a 'better' broker for newbies - a broker which is best for experienced traders should be excellent for newbies also. The first one which comes to mind is Oanda, although I'm sure there are others. I would avoid though the ones offering bonuses as the best brokers don't offer those.

Regulations for Signal Providers
in
Galvenais
Feb 22, 2012 at 13:21
JK, you're correct - there is definitely a conflict of interest, as with such a model, a signal provider nor the signal service have any interest to have only profitable providers. As far as I'm aware, most of the signal services are in that list (zulutrade, rent a signal, collective) except Currensee (I didn't try them therefor cannot recommend them).A revue model of such a service must be a high watermark success fee - not a fixed monthly fee and not a rebate fee.

You would expect for strict regulations and rules for engaging in such activity, however the sad thing is that there is zero regulation nor requirements; You can be a real trader looking to manage OPM, while on the other hand you can be a 16 year old kid trading a demo successfully for a month and advertising yourself as a manager on a signaling service such as zulutrade. No wonder investors still keep losing their money even if subscribing to a "successful" signal provider as it is always a matter of time before a margin call happens - always do your due diligence before investing in ...

How would you know if it's in fact slippage or the user simply closed the trade before the sl/tp was triggered? If you don't know that, then it would be a very misleading metric.

Hmmm..Interesting. Are the fractals limited in some way? If a fractal goes beyond a logical distance (ie 1000 pips), do you still accept it as a level? This sounds like a fancy way to get the same fat tail 😄

Indeed better to learn this lesson with as much small account as possible. IMHO the difference between a demo account and a real account trading is something that every trader must learn of and the only way is trade both.As long as you have a defined set of rules for entry and exit of a trade, which constitute a trading system, you shouldn't worry about trading too much - learn to trade like a robot (with no feelings involved) and it's only a matter of time before you see your demo performance and real performance converge.

Great to hear that you've learned the lesson. Interesting how many newbies still hurry to deposit real money and start trading with it even though the abundant information available on the web - I guess the temptation is too overwhelming.Hearing your numbers, I think you're over trading and risking too much per trade - try lowering the trade sizes as I'm sure you'll have more lessons coming at you in the near future.

Well said Nasim.Naturally, trading in teams where there is a leader would benefit only the weakest traders; and if you're trading well, there is no incentive to trade with other traders as this is a zero sum game (unless of course that is a paid service).
